You are right there is a double standard. Having said that I do expect Tony to be at the OTA and other organized workouts but on his time I have no problem with him doing things he enjoys.
Would you expect it if he was coming off of season ending surgery? My guess is yes.

So why not Brady? The article posted said he is planning to attend the OTAs next week. Clearly he has recovered from his surgery.

This stuff is ridiculous.

I agree with you. I think some go overboard with Romo. As far as Brady I don't care what he and the Pats do that is his business. I expect Cowboy players to be at OTA and any other organized workouts. I'm not singling out Romo I expect it from every player on this team. As far as I know Romo does put in the work so I have no issue with him going out and having a good time when he is away from the field.

I don't either. I never have. Some people want him sitting on his couch playing Madden. They think that is studying the game.

As long as a player is not getting into trouble that could result in missed time on the field I have no issue with any of our players pursuing things they enjoy doing. I doubt Ware sits at home during his off time and frankly because the media does not talk about it I don't know what Ware does. We all know what Tony does because it gets reported but that does not make it wrong that Tony has a life outside the lines as do all players.

A franchise quarterback skipped voluntary workouts. The guy was seen out with his celebrity love interest one night in the middle of the OTAs.

I reckon three Super Bowl rings allow Tom Brady to do as he pleases during the off-season. (And the Patriots apparently didn't mind their established vets taking the week off.)

Meanwhile, Tony Romo gets ripped for playing an occasional round of competitive golf. And that's with him working out at Valley Ranch on a regular basis.

I reckon so, Tim, I reckon so. Tom has proven he can get it done on the field and when it counts. Tony, not so much.

Maybe I'm wrong, and the few here that said Romo wouldn't be given grief if he'd won Superbowls are correct, but I think you're giving some of the people far to much credit.

I really, honestly, believe if he had won a Superbowl or two already you'd still have fans out there who would be pissing all over him for trying to qualify for a Golf tournament that might make him miss an OTA in May.

Hopefully one day very soon we'll be able to test that.

Apparently it does Dooms. I don't agree with it, but look at the stupid reactions in this thread.

Yeah I get it that we haven't won a playoff game yet, but overboard is overboard and fans are way overboard about Romo. It isn't even humorous any more. At first it was kind of funny the hoopla over who he was dating. It's just getting stupider each time someone comments.

Where was the hysteria over Roy Williams and Martellus Bennett playing basketball? You can turn ankles badly playing basketball. Why weren't they studying a playbook?

Tony isn't allowed a social life, hobbies, or mistakes. I'm tired of the double standard. I'm tired of the finger pointing by mouth breathers who don't understand the game of football and who couldn't play at 1/10th of his level if he were on crutches giving us their stupid opinions on what he should be doing.

I agree but there is nothing you or anyone will ever say to change some people mindset. That does not mean Romo has to stop living his life because some get their panties in a wad that is there problem not Tony problem

I'm sure many of these same people felt Walsh was the better QB than Troy after Troy did not have a single win in his rookie season and Walsh was the QB for the only win that season vs. the Commanders.

As bad as we feel Romo gets it Danny White was taking a lot more grief than what Romo currently is. White talked about verbal abuse by some fans towards his wife when she would go to the store not to mention the crud he had to put up with.

As far as I'm concerned those who put winning and losing squarely on the shoulders of the QB really have no clue as to what the game of football is all about.

I love these outlandish claims. :laugh2:

I really, honestly, believe if he had won a Superbowl or two already , 99% of the fans wouldn't care what he did in May.

If my WR's ran proper routes, I wouldn't have been benched in the 2nd half

I'll see your boring rhetoric, and raise you some logic. If Romo's WRs ran the right routes he would have a playoff win by now. Would've hit Crayton right in the hands, and we would've beaten the Giants.

So I know he can make all the throws to be a playoff winning QB.

No there wouldn't.

Bull****. Yes, there would. There would be posters all over Romo if he were cleared to play but missed an OTA.

Just like there were players on his *** for not showing heart after he played the PHI game last year with torn rib cartilage.

There'd be at least a dozen posts on this board starting out: 'Nobody loves Tony Romo more than I do, but it's been X years since our last Superbowl. We've got a great team with a lot of great players, but that window won't stay open forever....' I wouldn't know how the rest of the paragraph goes b/c once I got to the 'Nobody loves Romo more than me, but' part, I skip down the thread to see what a poster who knows what he's talking about thinks.

If he didnt hit Deshea Townsend and Ed Reed in the hands, we might have made the playoffs.

Again, just more whining about others' whining.

Brady dated a supermodel (now his wife) and she shot her mouth off about running naked down Broadway if the Giants won the Super Bowl. No one criticized Brady for it. Not even when she didn't pay up.
Maybe if someone had outfitted her with a runway, she would've walked it at least. :p:

It's funny how folks are dismissing the what ifs. Troy Aikman was criticized heavily before he retired. The man was a multiple Super Bowl winning quarterback. That alone should have afforded him tons of latitude, but, of course, it didn't.

I highly doubt that Tony Romo would shut up as many as 50% of his critics if he won a Super Bowl. Being a championship quarterback really doesn't mean squat to some people anyway. Heck, being a Super Bowl "anything" doesn't matter either.

I heard the NFL writer from The Sporting News on the radio tonight. This is much ado about nothing.

The practice is only for Pats newcomers. Lots of vets aren't there...Moss, Seymour, Bruschi, etc., etc.

Exactly. About the only veteran of any significance that participated was Fred Taylor.
