Precisely. The criticisms everyone's favorite players like Romo and Williams are sometimes over the top and excessive, but nothing close to the idiocy level painted in his post.

Yes, you would have the imbeciles blaming Romo (those with true "agendas" who are few and far between). But painting this horrible picture of a "hater" convention if Romo skipped a workout most of the other veterans did is indeed whining for no reason.

Again, just more whining about others' whining.

Get comfortable with it, or put me on ignore.

You both know damn well there were people complaining about Romo's commitment after the second PHI game last year. You know: the one he played with the separated ribs and where he reportedly collapsed in tears in the showers afterward.

I sat through people questioning Emmitt Smith's motivations going into his all-time-leading-rusher record breaking season. If you think Romo'd be immune to irrational criticism by Cowboy fans just because he won a SuperBowl or two at some point in his career, you're nuts.

Troy helped the team to 3 SB but that did not stop fans from booing him at the tailend of his career.

I'm sure many of these same people felt Walsh was the better QB than Troy after Troy did not have a single win in his rookie season and Walsh was the QB for the only win that season vs. the Commanders.

As bad as we feel Romo gets it Danny White was taking a lot more grief than what Romo currently is. White talked about verbal abuse by some fans towards his wife when she would go to the store not to mention the crud he had to put up with.

As far as I'm concerned those who put winning and losing squarely on the shoulders of the QB really have no clue as to what the game of football is all about.

Absolutely. Romo doesn't catch half the hell that White had. He replaced a legend and always had to live up to that standard. Romo gets the built-in luxury of simply being better than Carter, Hutchinson and Bledsoe from many fans.

Romo's criticisms are the result of his behaviors and those are self-inflicted. He's the one opening up the can of worms with the celebrity life-style, the questionable "if this is the worst thing that happens to me" comments and the trip to Cabo the week before a playoff game. I honestly don't care how much Romo faces because he's chosen his path. Being a Cowboy QB isn't easy. But he's not exactly flying under the radar to make it manageable.

I love these outlandish claims. :laugh2:

I really, honestly, believe if he had won a Superbowl or two already , 99% of the fans wouldn't care what he did in May.

But--that 1% would somehow become a greater percentage to some people.

And you would be nuts if you believe it would be more than a handful of imbeciles.

Painting a horrible picture of a hater convention? I hadn't realized that's what I'd done. I know you guys would like a nice private room for each of your respective circle-jerks, but this is a public forum. If I think your behavior is inappropriate, I'll just let you know.

I end up defending a lot of players who aren't particular favorites of mine (see: Crayton, Patrick. Williams, Roy) when criticism of them goes over the top. Romo happens to be a favorite of mine, but I have no problem with posts saying he needs to work on ball control in the pocket, or that he needs to take the team on his back in December, or that he should not have thrown a turd at Garrett post-game. Pick a valid point and make an argument. But if you're going to pretend his golf in the offseason is a mistake, or his not addressing TO'd departure in the press shows a lack of leadership, or that he's not roundly criticized unfairly for any of a number of ridiculous reasons by daft Cowboy junkies, you're going to have to listen to me 'whine' about the fact that you don't know what you're talking about.

I don't think it is due to his life style he is not looking for the camera they follow him and he like any player is not going to live in a cave. In my view this is about frustration on the fans part if this team wins no one will care who Romo is dating or if he is playing golf or not. As they say winning cures all. No one cared if Troy appeared on a TV sitcom, made a country music CD or that he was dating Lori Morgan the team was winning and all was right with the world.

You need to practice this, because you aren't picking one here. How many people truly had an issue with him playing through the rib injury? Five, six out of a forum of hundreds? Instead of addressing those, you went off on a whining rant here about how poor Tony Romo faces undue criticism and even extrapolated it to your belief that he'd still catch it even if he was in Brady's position. That's a stretch and you know it. Why? Because he's a favorite of yours as you stated.

You fail, Tim.

Aside from it being Tom Brady, HES STILL HURT!
Face it, even of the Cowboys had won the last 3 Super Bowls, Romo would still get crap for it.

That's the burden of being *THE* quarterback for *THE* Dallas Cowboys. You live life under the microscope.

During the regular season, guys like Bowen, Barber, Felix Jones, Ware, etc all left Dallas and came to El Paso on their day off to do Bowen's radio show. Did they get crap for that? Nah. But I'm willing to bet that if Romo had come, folks would have made a stink...

That said: he needs to get off the links and stay in the gym!! haha...jk

Thanks, but Randy and Paula both think my argument was valid. Paula said I was a Forum God. Like it or not, I'll be back next week.

There were more than 5-6 posters who had an issue with the commitment Romo showed after the PHI loss. It's not clear to me why you think I should have addressed the majority who agree with me that those issues were stupid.

It's a whining rant now to acknowledge that Romo gets criticized unfairly? Even in a context with several fair points of criticism of his game? I'd hope, Alexander, that you realize there a posters on this board capable of both liking a player and criticizing him. Or of understanding the difference between valid criticism of a player they like and invalid. I'm not going to go round and round with you about a hypothetical, but, yes, I believe that if Romo were in Brady's position, there'd be more than one thread on this board on the topic, and they'd be more than one page, each. That meets my definition of 'catching it' even if it doesn't meet yours.

That room is labeled "DCC" on the door. Too bad some have to open that door and wander over here.

Three mere playoff wins would constitute a Herculean achievement for Tony at this point, let alone three Super Bowls. But staying with your hypothetical, three championships + two knee surgeries would give him miles and miles of slack.

Exactly. A fanbase this big, anything is possible. But's it's funny some would harp on what that 1% might say just to try and prove their point.

It all depends how noisy that 1% are.

Speaking of which, re: Superpunk calling you a power tool. I just want to go on record saying I didn't think that remark was appropriate. Yes, power tools are noisy, but they're sometimes useful.

The Hambrick > Smith contingent on this site is asking you to define what you mean by the term 'miles of slack.'

Where do you buy the hay for your strawmen?

is asking you to define what you mean by the term 'miles of slack.'

What's the difference? Championships or not, you're determined to give it to him anyway.

The beatification of Saint Tony continues apace.
