Jay Ratliff says Cowboys play for one another

Jay Ratliff likes the chemistry on this Cowboys team.

"You have to be a team and depend on each other,'' Ratliff said. "That's what we've been doing this year, and that's why we've been successful.''

When asked if this began to develop during organized team activities in the off-season, Ratliff said, "I don't know when it started or how it started, but I'm glad it started.''

So, is this team closer than past versions?

"I feel like we're definitely closer,'' Ratliff said. "We're playing for one another and not just ourselves. I think that's going to take us a long way.

"We focus on what we need to do and stay away from outside influences.''

Not all of course, but I think Brooking brought a lot of this attitude to the team.

He says similar things when interviewed.

He is not the only one, but he has had an impact in the attitude and comradery of this team. IMO

Wade has preached this from the day he got here.

We just finally got all the selfish jerks and bad influences out of the locker room.

Totally agree, Brooking took this team to another level in leadership, accountability.

OT, but speaking of selfish jerks in a Ratliff thread: did you guys hear him say Brandon 'Tippytoe' Jacobs is a friend and a 'good guy' in his interview on DC.com? Yuck.

Spot on CL. Tank, Pac, TO, RW and Ellis to some extent all but themselves above the team.

I did hear that. The Brandon Jacobs that we know may be very different from the Jacobs that Rat knows. I personally don't care for the Jacobs that I've seen spouting off in the media, but he 'could' be a cool guy off camera.

More importantly, this shows the true character of Rat. He does not allow outside perception to dictate who his friends are. We should be that way. We could also conclude that Rat does not allow outside forces 'media' dictate how he feels about this team nor his fellow mates. Dude is HUGE and I don't mean weight.

I believe in this and I have a twist to it.

I think this team was going to play this way this year regardless, one for all..etc..

I think what brooking has brought is the belief in playing this way. You can play the all for one game and many teams do, but you still have to win.

Brooking is a good player and he is showing that playing for each other and being successfull can work. he has had alot of success here but all he talks is team. that is something i think the other guys believe in.

Everyone can talk, but you have to see it to make it true and I think brooking has done that. Couple that with barber, witten, romo, ratliff ware....

its a great thing.

Brandon Jacobs was on the same Auburn team Rat was on in 2003, so maybe they became friends while they played together

These guys have a life outside of football. I've hated many teams I've played against but wasn't against hanging out with players for those teams. There's something to be said for befriending people that are in your profession, even if you are professionally rivals.

That being said, I hate Brandon Jacobs.

Close, but CL salvaged it into a Jerry thread.

Or maybe Ratliff is just too classy to call Jacobs the jerk that he is.
