This is a big week for Jerry Jones and Cowboys Stadium with the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight there this weekend.

On Monday, Jones attended a Clottey workout and was asked about the Cowboys' inactivity in free agency so far.

"Impatient is not the word and what we're doing, we're pleased with what we have in place with the Cowboys," the owner and GM told reporters at the workout. "But if you look at our past several years we've never jumped right out there in free agency and really I don't ever look at what other teams are doing. It just doesn't fit the Cowboys. I look at what we're about and we have some places that we can improve our team in free agency just as we will in the draft, but there's no angst about getting anxious here. We're just watching it unfold."

The Cowboys have jumped out there in recent years with the signings of Anthony Henry, Jason Ferguson and Marco Rivera in 2005 and Kyle Kosier in 2006 on the opening day of free agency, but they will give the market time, generally, to sort out unless they target a specific player.

So far they have not found a player they want to target.

They should at least talk to Jamal Williams.

I'm not really interested in a 34 year old NT that no longer served a purpose in what is almost an exact clone of a defense in San Diego.

I doubt we're interested. We have Ratliff and did a tender offer to Siavii.

I would think there would be somebody out there better that they'd have targeted.

Guess not.

i didnt expect any movement by the cowboys to begin with. you can just tell the team is pretty content with most of the talent they have on the team. i was actually just thinking maybe theyd release somebody rather then sign somebody. but they havent done either

As long as we keep drafting well and developing talent we can sit back like this every year. If we go back and draft by throwing darts on the board like we did in the mid 90s to early 2000s we'll be just like some of these desperate teams.

Florio insinuated that JJ has a tight budget this year due to larger contracts signed in recent seasons and the stadium.

What a moron.

The media is writing crap like it's a uncapped year and the cowboy's aren't spending like Yankees why not? well because this is probably the worst UFA class ever. I don't really consider RFA's as real "free agents" not sure about you guy's i mean every scrub and his mother got tendered so you had to see this coming..

that guy is a complete moron.

I heard something this morning on espn that I had not realized, Because of the cba situation there could be as many as 400 free agents next year and there are 53 juniors in the draft.

Having read that it makes perfect sense that this is the year to be armed with picks and stay out of free agency.

too good to be over paying the JAGS who are out there.......the holes will be filled through draft and lower priced guys ie....Sens, Brooking, Igor.....

I'd rather be a better drafter and build a team that way. Then you can sit on the sidelines during free agency.

Who says we are not interested in anyone? There is interest...at the right price.

Yes, we are that good.

Its called being selective. This year is the worst crop of UFAs I have ever seen, and the guys getting the big deals are simply not worth the money.

You telling me that Rolle is the best safety in the NFL??? He is now the highest paid, so either he is the best or a team overpaid for him.

Name me one UFA that signed with another team that Dallas should have got into a bidding war for..........I cant think of a single one.

The Cowboys are doing exactly what they should be doing! We have a very good team! We just need to add subtle pieces like Brookings and Sensy were last season as well as add through the draft.
