I know I am in the minority, but I think Jerry is right. This game wasn't a good example, but this defense has been playing its best football since Jimmy Johnson was coaching the team. Romo had a guy in his face all night mostly because Flo tweaked his injury and was getting schooled. We all know teams are blasting through where Proctor is. Witten is injured. We are playing a rookie RB. We had a very bad year w/ injuries. I am willing to give Wade one more year.

I can't remember how Jerry Jones acted when he decided to let Chan Gailey, Dave Campo and Barry Switzer go.

But normally when Jerry Jones is so emphatic about something, he tends to stick with it.

OK, I guess I'm wrong . . . .

I really thought this was it for Wade.

I just don't see how Wade is going to take this to the next level.

The team lacks discipline, lacks focus, urgency, etc.

You know, I absolutely agree with you.

But we lacked all those things when Parcells was here too. I think it's more to do with the players we have. No leadership. Too many shoulder shrugs. Too many prima donnas.

Jerry Jones is a clown. Until fans stop buying his stuff and attending games this nonsense will go on forever.

Exactly... I'm thinking about taking back some Cowboys apparel I received for Christmas.

What bothers me is that we continue to have a ton of penalties, we don't look prepared, we don't play with urgency. The team doesn't play like a TEAM. It's individual stars.

There doesn't seem to be an identity either.

That's true.

But at least BP got us to the playoffs and built a decent roster.

I'm not really sure how Wade has built on BP's foundation.

If it was just the injuries, with the team struggling to overcome them, I'd agree. But the team leads the league in penalties, is close in leading in negative turnover ratio. The offense is unimaginative until the fourth quarter of games. There's no life or fire in the team for most games.

They play as if showing up is enough..

As long as clowns keep buying tickets and jerseys, perhaps Jones won't change.

If Wade is still the coach next year, I am simply going to take a year off as a fan.

Not giving up on them, not swapping teams or anything like that, but I just cant take it anymore.

This team will never win w/ Wade Phillips as a head coach.

I :hammer:

I have lost interest in the cowboys games towards the end of the year.
I am not a bandwagon fan, I have watched all theg ames during the 3 5-11 games but I am NOT looking at next year at all. we will end up 6-10 and JJ will hire another puppet so he looks important in the fanchise.

I buy a cowboys merchandise every christmas, I will take a break from that too, no need to feed into Jerry money making machine for his stupid decisions

Well at least I do not have to worry about making the playoffs next year

If we thought the team melted down this year I am predicting an 8-8 or less next year with Wade at the helm again. I looks for a full fundamental breakdown in Discipline this year it slipped next year is going to be a full blown disaster. I expect a record rate in Turn Overs to make this year look promising and I expect us to have an increase in the # of penalties somewhere around 10% over this year

Way to go Jerry at least I know what to expect as a fan. I am definitely canceling my plans to go to a game next year. yes I save up and budget trips for games since I travel

jerry's fragile ego is more important than running the football operations properly.

we have 20 years evidence of this.

keeping wade/jason and saving $9mil is no surprise from the worst gm in football 20 years running.

Word up, but Jerry Jones has Al Davis running cover on worst GM...

Yeah he never defended any of them the way he has WP.

He isnt making a change. We're stuck with them all I think.

Sucks to know tonight not only ended this season, but the next few seasons as well.

Continuity? CONTINUITY!?!? Are you freaking KIDDING Me?!? You want MORE of this crap? You think the problem is that the players just need to be exposed to more years of this insane nonsense?

Ridiculous. It's like looking at Enron and saying the only reason that company failed was because the higher-ups weren't given a few more years to straighten it all out.

Jerry's out of his mind.
Once again -- very well put.

Yea, Jerry never defended any other coach like he is now defending Wade.

This kinda makes it almost impossible now for Jerry to make a change without looking like a freaking hypocrite.

Looks like Wade is back for 2009:eek:

Yes, but as I've asked several times on several What's Wrong/What is to be Done threads, what do we do about it? Trade all of our stupid heartless players for smart, energetic players? Where do we find these players? Do we order them online or from a catalogue? Do we get discounts for large orders? Can we get refunds on the duds?

I think it's much more likely (but my no means certain) that improving the coaching can significantly improve the players' attitudes and efforts.

We have like nothing to look forward to now, we're getting robbed of our offseason hopes as well which is all we have to keep us over until next season :banghead:

1 more year of Wade means 1 more year of the same frustrating crap we just had to go trough :banghead:

I know, I agree w/ you. However, this team had a ton of penalties under Parcells. Didn't Parcells say that you couldn't coach penalties? If this defense didn't show me something at the end of the year, I wouldn't want Wade back either. Wade didn't get Pacman. Wade didn't bring in RW in the middle of the season. Heck, Wade doesn't really even contol the offense. I just want to see what Wade can do w/ another year w/ this defense. Get Felix back to help the offense. Maybe get our line healthy and RW into our offense. If you get a new coach, you almost start from scratch again.

After that comment by JJ; I now understand that JJ really wants a puppet he can control. That was his problem with Jimmy and Bill. Remember that. I now have switched in my understanding of what the problem is.

JJ wants and needs to be deeply involved. He wants coaches who have no issue with this CRITICAL fact.

Oh well; the light bulb has finally come on for me  JJ is the problem and has been for years.

Crap...
