Jerry Jones talks playcalling, team's chances, GM

I caught some of Jerry Jones on his weekly appearance on The Fan this morning, and he was not ready to throw away the season after a 2-2 start. No shocker.

Anyway, here's what he said:

"I really like our team. I like the makeup of our team. I like the quarterback a lot. I've been part of a team that lost the first two games and won a Super Bowl. You've got to be a little careful when you've got the length of a season that we've got."

On Jason Garrett's playcalling: "It's so easy to second guess playcalling. I think it goes with the territory. You've got to win consistently to keep it from happening. I do know what we do is well thought out."

On if he would ever hire a coach/general manager type: "No ... I don't have anything I don't manage. I just don't."

If I remember correctly, that team had Emmitt Smith, and he did not play those 1st two games. Slightly different situation........

Here's a thought, crazy but hear me out:

Jerry should fire Wade and coach the team himself that way when we go 4-12 he will snap out of it and hire a real coach. Let the ole crazy coot get it out of his system, then we can go back to winning again once we hire a real coach and GM...

That right there is one of the biggest problems this team will always have with him as the owner.

**** you Jerry.

You're pisssing away some of the most talented players in the league, with puppet coaches and a circus atmosphere that only an outrageously loaded Jimmy Johnson coached team could thrive under.

Dick.

So attacking Bailey 13 times and going after the journeyman playing opposite him 2 times was the way Garrett drew it up? Doesnt matter how much thought you put into a plan if it sucks.

Jerry is already coaching the team. Wade is his defensive coordinator and Garrett runs his offense.

I'm not real happy with the Cowboys right now but all this Jerry bashing has always confused me.

3 superbowl rings, new amazing stadium and a passionate owner willing to spend money............yeah horrible.

Show me all the owners who have won 3 SB's in 20 years and provided their team with the luxuries the Cowboys have.........

Sure we are in a drought, it kills me just as much as it kills you but it's not like the guy feels any better about it then we do and I'm pretty sure if he could change it tomorrow no matter the cost he would.

I think MOST here love Jerry the owner, it's Jerry the GM that scares them.

That being said, the talent is here for this team to win. For some reason, we play like a dumb football team. We had the same issues when Parcells was here as well. Sooner or later, the players have to quit making stupid mistakes.

You are confusing Jerry the owner with Jerry the GM maybe.

If you are pretty sure he could change it tomorrow no matter the cost, don't you think he would consider passing the GM duties on to Stephen Jones or bring in a GM?

Just something to consider.

Show me all the GM's who have gone 13 straight years without a playoff win.

Oh wait, you can't, because they all get fired about 5 years into a run like that.

I loves me Jerry the Owner. Best in pro sports. Except that he won't fire Jerry the GM.

Jerry owner = good

Jerry GM = bad

I do believe that sometimes things kept in their most simplest terms tend to be understood better.

Jerry Jones really makes anything that could be done to improve the Cowboys a moot point. It's preposterous.

As long as people keep showing up at the stadium, he'll have little incentive to change. Having this guy being the final say on personnel transactions is nauseating. Laugh at Al Davis all you want, we're not in much better shape than they are.

The evidence is clear: Jerry would much prefer to keep things as they are and never even sniff another super bowl, than to hire a GM and admit his complete failure in the product the Cowboys put on the field since the team began to fall apart in the mid-90s.

Were that not the case, there's no way he'd keep the current egomaniac GM employed. 13 years of failure gets any NFL coach, GM or director of personnel fired....except when you're the owner, too.

The situation is completely hopeless as long as he's running the show.

Over the last 24 games, Dallas is 12-12. It's what the team is. To argue otherwise at this point is ridiculous. If the last 24 games isn't enough evidence as to how far we are from being a great team, I don't know what it takes. This first month alone should've dispelled the notion the faithful had that last years was an aberration brought about by a bunch of injuries.

Maybe 3 more years of 9-7? Would that do it?

This team needs a drastic housecleaning, starting with the moron at the top.
