Barry Horn http://www.***BANNED-URL***/blogs/images/email-icon.jpg E-mail http://www.***BANNED-URL***/blogs/images/email-icon.jpg News tips

Jimmy Johnson, TV critic, on Fox's pre-game show: "(The Cowboys) are a sloppy, sloppy football team. Their fundamentals are poor. They should have been practicing the fundamentals in training camp rather than being TV stars for Hard Knocks. And I'll say this to Jerry, 'Don't tell me about 13 wins in the regular season. The fans want to know about playoffs."'

Pam Oliver's line of questioning to Jerry Jones during Fox's pre-game show: "Is your team a mess?; What on earth makes Roy Williams worth $45 million?; "Is it time to cut ties with Adam Jones? You asked him to do one thing and he couldn't do it." Maybe she is thinking of auditioning for a prosecutor's role on a network series.

No sideline reporter at any network delivers the goods better than Cowboy radio's Kristi Scales behind the Cowboys bench. She was ahead of Fox all Sunday one the nicks-and-brusies beat.

Maybe we should permanently cross Bill Cowher off the list of potential future Cowboys coaches. During CBS' pre-game show, he didn't exactly sound like he was wanting to work for Jerry Jones. "You've got to have one voice. In this situation you have Jerry Jones who is on the sideline when they're winning. When they're losing he is talking to the team, talking about the status of the quarterback and Wade Phillips has to listen to Jerry because right now (Wade) has to know what (Jerry's) saying as well. But even Wade has his own issues."

Or maybe he is just "pre" setting up the rules by which he would take the job.

This is absolutely 110% true. There is a reason there is a chain of command in the military and during war time congress votes to give absolute power to the President when he becomes Command and Chief.

You absolutely cannot have two different heads doing the talking. It causes breakdowns in authority and disrupts focus.

If Jerry wants to be the GM, fine, but he needs to get his *** out of the locker room!

Is he coaching the team? Then he needs to go back to his luxury box. Otherwise, there is no reason for Wade to have the title of HC.

And to think I almost got ran from the boards for suggesting that Jerry Jones appearing on the sidelines undercuts the head coach!

??? What does my feeling on Wade Phillips have to do with Jerry Jones being in the locker room?

If Jerry is going to coach then coach. If he isn't, get the **** out of the locker room!

I just dont see how Jerry being on the sideline undercuts him? Its not like he strapped on a mic and is talking in Romo's head and calling plays.

If Wade is winning whats there to worry about?

Its like where ever you work, sure the boss is on job with you, but is the owner not allowed to be there too?

If youre doing what youre supposed to, than you should have nothing to worry about.

its funny how people get upset about how Jerry is in the locker room, but when we were winning superbowls jerry was ALWAYS in the locker room and no one had a problem then.

As long as Jerry owns this team he is going to be invloved. You guys can complain all you want but Jerry has been involved since day 1 and that is not going to change.

Cowher will never come here and work for Jerry. He can have his pick of any job opening he wants. And, he is absolutely right - Jerry should hire a solid coach and let that man be the voice of the team. But Jerry won't do that.

Let me just say... with much certainty.... Bill Cowher has no interest in the Dallas Cowboys.... and furthermore... the Dallas Cowboys have no interest in Bill Cowher. Jerry Jones will not hire Cowher and besides Cowher would never work for Jerry Jones.

Sort of. And BP had a history of whoring himself out to the highest bidder every few years too.

Also, while Jerry did step back quite a bit and give considerable control to BP, he also made it clear he felt vindicated when BP left without winning a playoff game. Jerry didn't like "walking of eggshells", didn't like not being the main voice at the Ranch and he proceeded to retake all the control that he had given up.

Now it's possible Jerry could go and give up control again to a hardnosed HC, but I doubt it.

And I'll repeat, there's no way Cowher comes here.

I'd love to think that Cowher was just subtly sending a message that this would be one of the conditions of him coaching there but I just doubt that, very seriously.
