Crayton speaks

Calvin Watkins E-mail News tips

Why wait until tomorrow to hear what Patrick Crayton has to say when he spoke to a small group of reporters, well me and my competition, today at a East Dallas Boys & Girls Club.

Crayton was there to support the club and Pizza Hut, which made a $30,000 donation to the Greater Dallas' Boys & Girls Club Learning Makes Cents program.
The program is designed to give kids an incentive to read books. Kids in the program receive one dollar for every book they read.

Crayton, who attended the event, said he's had a busy offseason. After the Cowboys' playoff loss to the Giants, he's heard plenty of criticism for his play during that game. He had a critical dropped pass and hesitated during a route in the end zone on another play.

"I dropped a big pass and everybody can say one play didn't make all the things, but it's a big turning point in the game," he said. Crayton said that drop will stay with him for a while.

"It's a motivating thing to myself," he said. "It's one of those things to never let it happen again that's why I started early to get ready. It will be a motivation factor."

Crayton said his eight-year old brother, Bryson, gave him some grief about it.
"My eight-year old brother [Bryson] was the first one to ask, 'Man what happened? Why you dropped that ball?''' Crayton said. :laugh2: "You go wow. That's when it hits home."

Crayton also had this to say about the New York Giants, a team he talked smack about several times during the season: "They got the last laugh, man," he said.

Crayton also said he wasn't surprised the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl

I'm more forgiving of the drop than some, I guess. That happens to every receiver. But QUITTING on his route when we were inside the 20 yard line and the season was on the line is unforgiveable!!

Romo spreads the ball around so well that every receiver should be aware on every play. Even more so when the season is on the line

Q1: How does it feel to think about Eli fricking Manning with a ring for the whole offseason.

Q2: How much did Archie pay you?

My bad everyone. I think there's some misunderstanding as to what this thread is and isn't.

What it is
You were supposed to post a question in the DMN Blog comments section.

What it isn't
This is NOT a Zone Q & A.

Wow, I can't believe how many people turned on this guy this year. He went from a fan favorite to hated real quick. He had a very good year and made a hell of a lot of clutch catches this season. Sure it sucked that he dropped that pass in the playoff game. Yeah he opened his mouth several times, but maybe we need to lay off him....he does play for the Cowboys.

My question:

"Why when I was pulling for you to become a regular starter and was raving about your incredibly dependable hands to all of my NFL rivals... and the fact that you were drafted in the 6th round... did you have to open up your mouth on camera and expose yourself as the ******* I hoped you wouldn't be instead of just letting your play talk for you and ultimately left me looking like the fool?"

LOL. I was kind of offended that you'd think I didn't realize that when you first posted it. Then I realized other people actually didn't realize it.

Yeah, I've re-done the thread title several times trying to fix it. Short of closing the thread, I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Ha! People are still trying to get over the Catch. I doubt they'll let this go anytime soon. But thanks anyway.

Meh... I dont feel like asking anything... glad he is answering questions though?

Its too bad he is not good enough to have us get excited about having a good/great year and great post season.

I really wish we didnt do the contract with this guy during the season.

He is still on my **** list. I dont see him doing enough to get off of it.

I realized the Q and A but didnt feel like clicking on link. Just wanted to blow it off in here.

Typical fans over reacting about the guy with one off game. Kind of funny how everyone forgave TO and all his drops in games at clutch times.

If crayton makes a clutch catch this next post season all these guys will be hanging on his jock

Crayton talks drops and reading
Cowboys wide receiver Patrick Crayton has been to Puerto Rico on his honey moon.

He has vacationed in Atlanta.

But there is nothing he can do to get away from the horrors of the Cowboys 21-17 NFC divisional playoff loss to the Giants.

Not at home, where his eight year old brother Bryson was the first one to ask him about the critical dropped pass that could have potentially given the
Cowboys some momentum.

And not Tuesday at the Boys and Girls Club East Dallas Branchs where Crayton was on hand to support the club and Pizza Hut, which made a made a $30,000 donation to the Greater Dallas' Boys & Girls Clubs Learning Makes Cents program.

"I can handle it when adults give me grief but when kids do it its different,"
Crayton said.

"My eight-year old brother [Bryson] was the first one to ask, 'Man what
happened? Why you dropped that ball?''' Crayton said. "You go wow.
That's when it hits home."

Of course Crayton was reminded again at the Boys and Girls club when a little boy asked him the same question while he was signing autographs.

"It's a motivating thing to myself," he said. "It's one of
those things to never let it happen again that's why I started early to get
ready. It will be a motivation factor."

Watching the Giants win the Super Bowl will also be a motivating factor for Crayton, who got into several verbal jousts with the bitter NFC East Rivals during the season.

"They got the last laugh," Crayton said with a smile.

Regarding the Learning Makes Cents program, Crayton said he was happy to join Pizza Hut in supporting the Boys and Girls club.

The program is designed to give kids an incentive to read books. Kids in the program receive one dollar for every book they read.

“As someone who is from this area and has seen firsthand the impact that the Boys & Girls Club makes on children, I’m so glad to be a part of this program,” Crayton said during the conference. “During college I worked in this very building and I’ve seen some of the brightest kids I know in these halls. I would like to thank Pizza Hut for this valuable contribution. It will go a long way in the lives of these kids.”

Its sad to see you guys bash a guy who has done an absolutely outstanding job for us ever since he has stepped on the field.

I love Patrick Crayton and I forgive him for the playoff game.

The good he has done for this franchise out-weighs the bad by a long shot.

Why the heck would you not want this guy on our team?

Or do you just have a problem with the timing of the contract?

Where was TO down the stretch funny how Irvin always managed to get open in Big games at Big times even if he was double covered yet TO disappeared when it counted and was taken out. TO is suppose to be the star wr yet Romo had to go to Crayton in the clutch that is why we have TO in theory he suppose to be the goto wr.

Yes Crayton screwed up but man where was TO against the scrub secondary the Giants had out there

Man I don't come here often enough, thats hilarious.

Course I made a thread about Crayton during the season and got toasted for it, he was loved then, oh well. Look it up, I got roasted, lol. I don't dislike him, but we do need a #2 WR, cause he wasn't it from my orginial thread, and he still isn't it now.
