Its sad to see you guys bash a guy who has done an absolutely outstanding job for us ever since he has stepped on the field.

I love Patrick Crayton and I forgive him for the playoff game.

The good he has done for this franchise out-weighs the bad by a long shot.

I'm with ya, with one exception. "Don't go on TV, do all that ghetto smack talk, get all in to youself, and not back it up. Best thing to do, is shut the #$%@ Up!"

I'm telling you, that is the problem everyone has. "Hey Patrick, Buddy, shut the @#$^% up and play." just shut up!

Why the heck would you not want this guy on our team?

Or do you just have a problem with the timing of the contract?

The timing.
I like the player but he does not come from the school of "if you are gonna talk the talk you gotta walk the walk"

I am all for him schooling himself this year.

Where was TO down the stretch funny how Irvin always managed to get open in Big games at Big times even if he was double covered yet TO disappeared when it counted and was taken out. TO is suppose to be the star wr yet Romo had to go to Crayton in the clutch that is why we have TO in theory he suppose to be the goto wr.

Yes Crayton screwed up but man where was TO against the scrub secondary the Giants had out there

Romo missed TO on a sure TD. The ball slipped - fine. That would have been TWO TD's in the Giants playoff game for TO.

If I have to explain to you how TO made that almost game winning TD to Crayton possible then I cannot help you.

I've not been a big TO fan, but TO was recovering from an injured ankle.

The Giants noticed he wasn't the same and altered their defensive scheme in the second half to attack Romo.

I can't remember whether I heard this after the game or on another show, but the Giants secondary was saying that Terry Glenn and TO weren't the same, that TO really couldn't get separation. So that played into the Giants' game plan.

I wouldn't fault TO here.

Crayton deserves the criticism, especially since he ran his mouth all season.

But it must hurt when, as Crayton said, a child says, basically, "You sucked." :laugh2:

And I reiterate. TO would have had 2 TD's in spite of all you mentioned.

Crayton will be talking ? Now there's something new and exciting...

I bet by the time he finishes talking it will turn out that we really did win the Super Bowl and he made the winning catch (with what was it - 24 seconds left) by not quitting on his route and running by the DB...

My bad everyone. I think there's some misunderstanding as to what this thread is and isn't.

What it is
You were supposed to post a question in the DMN Blog comments section.

What it isn't
This is NOT a Zone Q & A.

..it's just apathy over the player and his season.

Opens mouth and inserts foot in the Pats and Giants playoff game and also faded as the season wore on generally.

Whatever.

He's a good #3 WR, love him there.

As #2..we are very, very limited.

We will upgrade #2 WR shortly so he can go back to being a nice, quiet, contributing #3 again.

Not that it makes much difference, but Crayton explained the hesitation on that incomplete pass in the end zone. The route he was running was supposed to go to the sideline, however he was surprised he got up on the corner so quickly. So rather than run the sideline route, he and Romo read the same thing and he decided to run a "go" route. Thus the hesitation.

Was it a mistake to slow down? Certainly. But I don't for one minute think it was lack of effort after hearing the explanation. I'm willing to give him a pass. Hey, this play and his big drop were key reasons for the loss. But so was allowing a team drive to 70 yards in 40 seconds by a vastly overrated defense, or missing tackles on a 30 yard punt return.

I'll take Patrick Crayton on my team any day.

Funny how Crayton takes a lot of heat for the loss (only because he opened his mouth which I agree he needs to shut) for his big drop but Flo gets a pass when he came up like crap in the second half including getting romo rocked by not even laying a hand on the defender in the final drive of the game putting us in a bad position when it counted Flo got owned yet everyone forgave him

The team as a whole played like garbage and left 4 tds on the field

Thank you sir, said it in September. :)

This offense with a #2 WR, that has potential to be a #1 in the future, would be the most exciting thing to me since I discovered vodka.

I agree with both of you. Crayton was a goat in that one game, but he was still very productive most of the year for us.

The main thing is that he needs to shut up. Other than his big mouth, I have no complaints with him.

That's why there is so much animosity.

Granted, he was beyond horrible when it mattered most, but running his mouth -- especially against the Giants -- is what I have a problem with. He doesn't have the game or the cojones to back it up, and all he did was incite a hated rival and help ignite their Super Bowl run.

Oh, and I think everyone knew you had to go to DMN to ask a question. We were just all venting.

Thanks for posting that. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since he said that publicly and it is probably the truth. I guess I would ask why were they running a sideline route with 30 seconds to go and they had to get in the endzone? But thanks for giving us his explanation. That's better than thinking he quit on a designated go route.

"That's why there is so much animosity."

or maybe it's because he was the biggest choker on the field that day while having the biggest mouth...just an alternate theory.

How can a guy who runs his mouth so much QUIT on the game-winning play with less than 30 seconds left and the season on the line?!
I would love to ask him that question.

I really don't think this guy realizes how much animosity a lot of the fans feel toward him at this time. He has a lot of making up to do!
Couldnt have said it better myself...

Jackie Smith was a quiet, humble star player (albeit earlier in his career) and still, after all these years, the mention of his name makes Cowboy fans cringe.

Patrick is not quiet, is not humble and is not a star.

He's got a long way to go.
