Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis is on his way back home after undergoing an emergency appendectomy at a Virginia hospital Sunday before kickoff.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones sent his plane to northern Virginia for DeCamillis, whom Wade Phillips joked wanted to return to the office Tuesday to start working on Philadelphia. DeCamillis said he will return to coach this week.

"He's a tough-minded guy," Phillips said. "And he's a football coach. He wants to get back to work. He apologized to me because he was going to the hospital. I was like, 'All right, we're not going to have that anymore. We're not going to have any more appendicitis, especially on gameday."

Wes Phillips will handle the breakdown of the Eagles' special teams units in DeCamillis' brief absence.

Does anyone know how long most people would be sidelined from it?

How can you be sidelined from standing on the sideline?
Depending on if the procedure weakens him it could. Which is why I asked.

Depeding on the person. Up to a month more or less.

Exactly. Unless he gets an infection. He'll probably feel like being at the game next week but will tire easily.

I know Coach Joe would hate it, but he needs to be relegated to the coaches box Sunday.
