I don't think we go with a rb at #22. No proof, just don't think so. My thinking is this: Draft best availabele CB at #22. Talib, Cason whomever is highest rated. Then trade #28 and someone like Carp to the Lions for Roy Williams if possible. Then trade our 2nd and 3rd to move up into position for the best available running back EARLY in the 2nd round: I believe Johnson could still be there. Then you'd have Pacman, Talib or Cason, Roy W., and possibly Johnson for your headliners this offseason. BTW-rounds 4-7 could be used for depth at WR, D.Line, etc...........Yeah, I know it won't happen, but Jerry will be busy you just know that.............which as someone already mentioned is scary. :starspin
Hard to argue with those moves.

IR, you should compare him to Lynch. I know you loved Lynch last year.

Lynch was a dynamic receiver and better pass catcher than Stewart is. I loved his versatility. I didn't know he was going to be as physical between the tackles as he was for Buffalo. Stewart's style reminds me of Maurice Jones Drew. Runs with a ridiculously low pad level. Low center of gravity. Gigantic thighs. Great balance and vision. Homerun speed.

I don't know if the injury will cause Stewart to fall that far. Supposedly it wasn't a big procedure, they were just going to tighten up the ligament in his toe. He played with the injury all last year. The only reason he went through with it is because he got assurances from several GMs at the Combine that it wouldn't effect his draft stock.

i actually dont mind the idea of Jenkins or others at 22. I just also think that Stweart would be good value there. Hes not a pet cat. i really try not to be like that.

But really at 22 Im not really high on any of the WR. I do like Thomas or Sweed at 28 but even then im kinda iffy. As for a CB, if we get Jones then more than likely the rookie is only going to get playing time when Henry gets hurt.

And thats a fair point, but i worry about relying on Pacman. And I do worry about what happens after we likely cut Roy after next yr, let Hamlin walk (b/c we cant sign him to gibril wilson $'s with D ware, Tnew K's coming up). Then I think we may move Henry to FS, and only have Pacman (unreliable) and TNew (some injury issues always possible). So I think a CB, or maybe Kenny phillips is definately being wise and proactive about tmrow. Again, this is all based on my belief that the talent level at cb may drop off significantly after 22. But if DRC, Jenkins, McKelvin, Talib, are all gone at 22, then maybe the better value could be a great RB.

I actually hoping that Jenkins falls to us. In my mind that would be ideal. im not convinced that Talib is fluid enough to play CB at the NFL level.

I disagree. I think Jerry's main reason for acquiring Pacman (other than talent), is being able to draft the best available PLAYER at #22. This is why I think Dallas is bringing in a RB like Jonathan Stewart, because he will be rated higher than a CB such as Antoine Cason or Brandon Flowers. And Jerry does not like drafting WR's in the 1st round because it's such a crapshoot. So I do believe the rumors that we are trying to acquire a WR like Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin. The Cowboys will draft the best available player at #22.

I think we will still take a CB with the first pick. I am hearign more and more that we will approach the draft like PM Jones isn't on the roster due to his issues with being reinstated by the NFL and him being unreliable at best.

Stewart would be a great value at #28 but I would rather have Chris Johnson - more speed and no health issues....as far as I know.

I wouldnt mind him, he is solid. But really i want a cb with ball skills. As much as I love TNew, he doesnt really have great ball skills, doesnt get alot of picks. I think our D could really benefit from some more turnovers (obviously), and thus i really prefer a guy like talib, or maybe reggie smith at 28...

Hes a ball hawk no question. I just see him more as a safety or zone corner where he can keep the play in front of him and break on the ball.

i really need to do some more research on smith though i really dont know that much about him.

I'm no draft expert: but I sure agree with the new CB having BALL SKILLS. I like TNew: always have, but the fact is he's dropped more int's than he's made in his career. Truth hurts.

Good point.

Everyone keeps talking about a "complimentary" back to go with Barber. I don't like the idea of picking a part-time player in the first round.

I would rather have an every-down guy. And there's no reason why an every-down back can't be a complimentary player, too.

Jonathan Stewart has 3rd-down back qualities, he's a great receiver and pass-blocker, hell, he can return kicks too

one of the knocks on him is that he may have to be part of a rotation since he likes to initiate contact, which perfectly suits him here since we already have our back in Barber, if he beats out Barber and becomes the guy, even better

Frankly, I'm kind of astounded everyone wants to go back to Jerry's philosophy of the late 90's of drafting complimentary players and projected backups with first day draft picks just to fill immediate roles.

I guess we need to find a new crop of Kendall Watkins and Sherman Williams.

just because backs like Chris Johnson are deemed complementary backs, doesn't mean they can't develop into full-time starters down the road

but I don't think this is much of an issue since you need 2 quality backs to be successful in this league, yes, a Parcell-ism
