Judd Garrett will be named the Cowboys' assistant director of pro scouting, according to multiple sources. Judd Garrett is the younger brother of Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and tight ends coach John Garrett. For the last two seasons, Judd Garrett was the St. Louis Rams' tight end coach but asked for a leave of absence due to family matters. Judd Garrett's wife passed away last year.

Judd Garrett replaces Brian Gaine, who left to work as the Miami Dolphins assistant player personnel.

Following in the footsteps of his dad, Jim. I hope he and Tom Ciskowski work well together.

I applaud this for the simple reason it further cements Jason Garrett as a Dallas Cowboy.

Jim (Sr.) was a scout for us for almost 20 years. Gotta love a family with the parents and like 8 kids all with the same first initial.

Jason wanted to bring Judd here as a coach last year, but he couldn't get him away from the Rams.

My guess is that Judd will focus mostly on offensive players. He has coached quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends, and Jason has said they have the same offensive philosophy, so Judd should know what types of players fit in Jason's scheme.

It's essentially the "director of pro scouting" as he is the head pro scout. He's replacing Brian Gaine, who was the head pro scout.

Best case scenario is this assures that Jason hangs around for a couple more years. Worst case scenario is that Jason leaves and takes our TE coach and head pro scout with him.

Yes, it's stated in the OP that he's replacing Gaine, who was the head pro scout.
