But he made it clear that he's just visiting, not trying to make a comeback with the Cowboys.

"I'm not him," Keyshawn said when asked about the Cowboys' need for a receiver. "We can get that question out of the way. I'm not him. I'm just here watching practice like everybody else. I just happened to play the position once upon a time."

There's been a lot of buzz about Keyshawn coming out of retirement, but he said he's closed the door on that possibility. He joked that he doesn't have much choice weighing in at 270 pounds.

I tried to find out whether Keyshawn and T.O. have chatted since their public back-and-forth bickering last season. Keyshawn reiterated that he was just here to watch practice, and T.O. walked off when he figured out where the question was heading.

Keyshawn at practice

Former Cowboys receiver and now ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson is in Oxnard for the team's workouts today. Johnson is a strong believer in Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, once a little-known backup when Keyshawn was on the team. Key said he would take him over Giants quarterback Eli Manning, no doubt.
Key has been most impressed with Romo's ability to fit passes into tight windows of coverage and ability to win while playing reckless at times. He also once considered Romo the most overhyped player. Not overrated. Overhyped when made the Pro Bowl after replacing Drew Bledsoe.
More tidbits from Keyshawn:
* He does not have a Super Bowl pick yet. Wants to wait until the middle of the season.
* Said he is not looking to play again. He is finished. Never done talking, just done playing.
* Oh, and don't ask him about Terrell Owens. They had a little back and fourth last season when Owens challenged Keyshawn to come to Dallas and try to take his job. Keyshawn said he felt Bill Parcells deserved some credit for the Cowboys 12-1 start last year. Owens said Keyshawn couldn't be the third or fourth receiver on the Cowboys.
T.O. also wanted no part of any questions involving Keyshawn after practice and walked off. These guys just flat out don't like each other.

Touchy Subject

Terrell Owens is getting so much better in how he deals with the media.

After Saturday's morning practice he fielded questions from reporters for 20 minutes or so and no subject was too taboo. He talked about the tears he shed following last season's playoff loss, Tony Romo's celebrity girlfriend, his own stardom, and even (believe it or not) some football.

Finally Tim McMahon of the Dallas Morning News asked if he's spoken to former Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson who is out at camp today. That's when Owens showed his media savvy, turning his head and walking away. That question, as they say, is an ender.

Last season Johnson, on an episode of ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown," called out Owens for disrespecting former coach Bill Parcells. Owens responded by saying: "I challenge him to come down here and take my job. ESPN producers, let him go."

That Owens avoided giving the sports pages controvercial fodder Saturday is a testament to the maturity he's shown since first signing with the Cowboys in 2006.

Keyshawn Visits Camp -- As Spectator Only

Former Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson made a surprise appearance at Saturday morning's practice, stopping by for a quick segment with our Cowboys TV department and visiting with players and coaches afterward.

Before anyone tries connecting receiver dots - Johnson showing up a day after Terry Glenn gets released, that is - forget about it. Johnson, who turned 36 last Tuesday, said unequivocally he's done with football.

Friendly wager with Keyshawn Johnson on Ohio State-USC game

Jean-Jacques Taylor E-mail News tips

Keyshawn Johnson, one of my favorite people when he played for the Cowboys, showed up for practice today.

Thirty seconds after spying me, he asked me my thoughts on the USC-Ohio State game on Sept. 13 in LA.

"We're coming to your house and kick your butt," I told him. "We're gonna knock Mark Sanchez out of the game and we might do the same to Mitch Mustain."

He laughed. It was the kind of sarcastic laugh that people have when they believe there's no way your team could beat their team.

He asked if I wanted to put a wager on the game. I told him to name a price because I wasn't scared. Then he reached into his pocket, pulled out a wad of bills and placed one of them in my left pocket.

"I'll put my money up right now," he said. "You just be ready to give it back to me with interest after the game."

Any guesses on what bill Keyshawn placed in my pocket.

He is so smug. If I could buy him for what he is worth and sell him for what he thinks he is worth I'd be one wealthy SOB.

Im just glad to see T.O. keep his mouth shut. Hopefully he's starting to learn that the media is not his friend.

I'm glad they waited 20 minutes before they asked the Keyshawn question because it wouldn't have been much an interview if they had asked it first.

I was under the impression that when Key left the Cowboys, it wasn't on the best of terms. I thought that he felt that he was slighted by the organization.

I'm surprised that he's back, but I suppose it must be for his broadcasting work.

i love how the old players show up at camp!

nice to see him, and really crazy to see Thomas show up, too!!!

also nice to hear TO shrug off the reporters trying to rekindle last years verbal war between them.

TO has come a long way.
