Thankfully Ward doesn't play for the giants anymore.

Derrick Ward could be representative of any RB. Grow some tackling nads.

Gee, with a team with a regular coach, that sort of announcement would be made by the . . . coach.

Just another day in Wadesville.

excuses already jenkins sucks I hate him.

You have over 12,000 posts, and at least 10,000 of them are snarling about something...

I'll bet you're a real joy to be around in real life, too...

Wait, you think this was an official announcement? Or that players on teams with regular coaches don't have blogs? Or are we piling on for the sake of piling on some more? Another day in Wadesville is right.

As a first round draft pick entering his second season he is naturally favored to start, and as he accurately points out, good will is his to squander and the competition will be stout.

Times are changing.

I remember when reporters interviewed players and wrote stories. Full-length features.

Now, they surf the 'net and copy and paste from blogs and Twitter.

That's not an article, it's a blog entry.

I think there is a difference. When Todd Archer writes an article, he speaks to the players/owner/coach and uses quotes for the piece.

That piece we are using in the OP does not show up in the print media from the Dallas Morning News.

And I think it's great that the players are now interacting directly with the fans thru various outlets. This way there is a less of a chance for the reporters to leave out some stuff and we come around to the whole' out of context' argument.

I think Jenkins may be okay, but I gotta say I lean towards Scandrick as having the most upside. His reaction to the ball is phenomenal and he doesn't play sacred.

I also don't think it matters who wins the starting job because with Newman it's not a matter of it, but what game he goes down for awhile. I'm really encouraged by the way the CB position is turning out.

Just because Jenkins starts at RCB opposite Newman doesn't mean that Scandrick won't get NUMEROUS snaps at the slot.

Jimmy Johnson would want him to think about it in positive terms:

"It's my job to win".

Positive seeds...

Mike Jenkins is hungry, and he's getting ready for the competition.

I like it.

He has a point to prove, and I think he will prove it, in spades.

The point being, Mr. Doe, is that, traditionally and in this universe at least, a player would not dare say that or "announce it."
A coach -- a real coach -- after prodding, would say "so and so is my QB" or LB or whatever.
This should be a team driven approach and then validated by the HC, not free agents touting their value so their coaches can see it on the night news.

Scandrick is going to be the slot corner no matter what. Wade has already said he's won that job after last season.

If Scandrick wins the starting job at RCB, then he'll start there and move into the slot on the Nickel, with Jenkins taking over at right corner.

No matter what they're both going to get tons of playing time.
