Like Tony Romo, Wade Phillips got his first playoff victory. Keith Brooking went so far as to pull the imaginary monkey off Phillips' back in the final seconds.
"I couldn't be happier for Wade," tight end Jason Witten said. "He's fought through a lot here. He believed in us as players. It was a tough start here in December, losing those first two, but I can't say enough for him for believing in us."
Brooking was even more effusive.
"What he's fought through, a lot of negativity and he's dealt with it in a way I probably couldn't," Brooking said. "You've got to commend him for that ... He's the MVP of our team."

Monkey off Tony Romo's back?

Tony Romo is now 1-2 as a starter in the playoffs and he was asked if how it felt to get "the monkey" off his back with Saturday's win.
"I've only been playing for four years now, but we played two of them before and I felt like one of them was my fault," Romo said. "So I didn't feel like this was the most impossible thing ever that everyone made it out to be. The other thing is, if you're good enough you'll win. If I wasn't good enough to win a playoff game as a quarterback then I wouldn't have. It's very simple in the approach. It's just I'm going to go out there and play as hard as I can, I'm going to commit to it fully, this team is and if we're good enough to win, we'll find a way to get the job done."
Romo was good enough Saturday. He completed 23 of 35 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He had a 104.9 passer rating.

From the mouth of Wade Phillips' press conference following tonight's game:
"It feels great. For Tony and I of course because they count our record. It takes a lot of us even though we were not here in 1996 through this time, but it is important. More for this team and our fans in that we don't have to hear we have not won a playoff game in a long time."
"I've said all along that if you can get the team to the playoffs, you can win. You just need to learn how to win. You play a lot of big games throughout the year and we did that and we went ahead and won this ball game. It's just learning how to win. As long as you are a winner and you win enough games it's going to carry into the playoffs at some time."
"I think we are playing as good as anybody right now. I thought we were there the last three games. Our defense is playing outstanding and our offense is playing really well and our special teams are playing really well."
