Frankly, I don't care which network gets the game.

It's far more important to me that we win.

I sure hope we get a bottom-fedder to open the stadium with. I sure dont want to play the G-men in the openner.

That would freaking suck to get stomped in the first game at the new stadium.

Nooooo, come on, have some faith...

Opening vs the Commanders would be absolutely classic wouldn't it?

I'll be interested to see if Madden is back for another year. I have always liked him, (going all the way back to his Raider days), but he's slipped a lot the past couple of years.

Barry Horn E-mail News tips

The other day I mentioned the reasons I believe the Cowboys opener in their new home will be on NBC.

To recap: I think Jerry Jones, who is a big man on the TV committee and in NFL circles in general, would want to play in a time slot when no other team is playing and he would choose NBC over ESPN because NBC draws lots more eyeballs.

Then a voice came from deep within Valley Ranch, weighing in the subject. The voice pointed out that NBC employs the venerable Al Michaels and John Madden while ESPN has relative new kids on the block Mike Tirico, Tony Kornheiser and Ron Jaworski. The voice pontificated that Jones would choose "venerable" over "new kids" to help usher in his new pride and joy any day of the week.

"Madden and Michaels are the NFL," the voice offered.

Yeah that and the fact that the Indianapolis Colts had there season opening game on NBC when they opened thier new stadium.
But when it happens for the Cowboys it's because Jerry is declaring he wants it that way..... !
The Dallas media can not stop using JJ as the reasoning everything good or bad happens in Dallas.
JJ brings that on himself but the local media keeps on stereo-typing Jerry whenever there is nothing to write about because it's the easy thing to do.
That's lazy journalism...ESPN is full of this kind of stuff.
If we get the Sunday Night game to open the season it's just because we have the new stadium...it's that simple...no reason to say Jerry is demanding it unless you have the facts or a credible source.
I know Horn is just the guy who reports on everything that happens on TV but he is just following the rest of the sheep when he reports this kind of crap.

BTW, there's no guarantee we'll be playing at home in Week 1.

We would never, never, never, never, never, never hear the end of them crowing over beating us in the first game at the stadium.

Toooo risky for me, especially considering we lost at home to the Commanders last year.

No doubt in my mind they'd lose to the Commanders. The Commanders are always at a different intensity level than the Cowboys in recent years. The Cowboys seem to come at them like they're just another team whereas the Skins play up for the Cowboys. In a game in which they'd have the already built in incentive to beat Dallas plus the "Jerry Jones handpicked us" bulletin board material, it'd be signed, sealed and delivered for them.

Ironically, the team I'd be least afraid of Dallas playing is the Giants. They're the only team that the Cowboys seem to really lay it all on the table against. Unless the team they play is just AWFUL, the Cowboys are going to need to be on their Ps&Qs because the visitor is going to want to spoil this badly. I feel like the Cowboys will get up to that level against NYG.

Maybe we could just have an intra-squad scrimmage to open the new stadium. :)

Nah, I am mentally preparing myself for some team to come in and open our new diggs by stomping our butts, peeing on our Star, and taking our women.

I can't wait. :banghead:

I am sure we would be happy to oblige (except the Star part, too much respect for that, and well, have ya seen Jessica lately, you can keep her.)

Sure there is. The networks won't pass up that opportunity. Trust me, the networks have some say in where and when games are played.

I pitched it to Jerry.

They don't take personal checks - who knew?
