Newman's ready
Cowboys CB Terence Newman's giving himself a clean bill of health. Or one that, at least, is clean enough for the defensive back to ask for an increased workload.

When asked if he's ready for every-down duty, Newman, with a mouth full of bread, nodded, smiled and said, "Yup." That work, according to coach Wade Phillips, will come on the right side, with Anthony Henry likely out on Monday. Newman normally plays left corner, and he said the difference hasn't been stark on the other side -- "It's all cornerback" is the way he put it.

FB Oliver Hoyte is expected to make the trip and again be a game-time decision, something that will be based on the strength in his neck. Meanwhile, S Keith Davis said he's 50-50, and appears to be no sure thing to even travel with the team to Buffalo.

I think Newman's been fine since the Dolphin game. I think they held him out of that one for precaution and probably the field conditions had stuff to do with it to. The reason why I say this after Roy Williams interception he came running out on the field and jumped as high as he could and gave him a chest bump and landed on both feet. If he had any issues he would not have done that. As for the Bears game, I think he came back slow due to conditioning factor. I think hes prolly out of shape, and now hes back in shape he can play full time again.

Newman's return to full duty will cause a few defensive coordinators to lose a little more sleep during the next few weeks. Probably longer.

Now, if we can just get that pesky Henry voodoo doll out of Eduncan's hands, we'll be set.

Wade said Newman needed work on his technique, and I agree with him. Love me some Newman -- he's my favorite player on the team, and it's really not even close. But to my amateur eyes, I always thought he took some false steps that he didn't need to take. He could get away with it because of his athletic ability, but I think he could be even better with better coaching. One reason the injury stinks is that he hasn't been able to work on that, especially now that he's on a new side.

But oh well, at least he's coming back.

Great News indeed. Having him back and possibly Henry for NE will probably make Wade a little more confident when throwing "chaos" onto the league. Get your popcorn ready!

I agree by the way. The secondary coaching hasn't been too stellar here in the past, has it? The way they go for the ball now is terrific, but it makes me upset at all those years they just stared at the WR and ran along beside him while he slowed down and caught the ball... or got a pass interference call. :bang2:

When Henry gets back and Tank joins the fold we'll have a full contingent on Defense that hopefully finally achieves the level of nasty I have been wanting for years.
