** I saw Deon Anderson limping pretty good Monday. The Cowboys should hope he is OK. He was as good as he's been as a lead blocker. He will take on inside and outside linebackers as well as defensive ends. But durability is a question for him.
** The Cowboys wide receivers will block down the field. Roy Williams had three big blocks in big gains, two on Marion Barber runs and one on Patrick Crayton's reverse. And Crayton and Miles Austin also threw some pretty decent blocks down the field too.
** I have no idea what Osi Umenyiora was thinking on Felix Jones' 56-yard run. After tight end Jason Witten motioned to the left, Umenyiora followed Witten wide as he blocked safety Michael Johnson, leaving a huge crease for Jones. What was funny was how Deon Anderson did not have anybody to block.
** Flozell Adams might believe he didn't trip Justin Tuck but the replay was pretty clear, and he tried to do it in the fourth quarter to Umenyiora. On the Tuck trip, which left the Giants defensive end with a shoulder injury, Adams passed off the defensive end to Kyle Kosier as Tuck looped outside. For a split second Tuck stopped, faked up the field, which got Adams off balance, forcing him to stick out his right leg. It was a clear penalty.
** Kyle Kosier had a terrific game. He threw a key block on Barber's long run that ended with the running back straining his quadriceps.
** The Giants did not do much exotic stuff with their pass rush. They brought four-man pressure 19 times, five-man pressure five times and six-man pressure three times. Three of the five-man pressures came when they blitzed a defensive back off the slot.
** The Cowboys had two tight ends on the field 14 times in the first half and 10 times in the second half. They went with more fullback stuff in the second half and it worked pretty well.
** Anthony Spencer had a terrific first half but he disappeared in the second half. Without a linebacker rotation, he's simply having to play too many snaps. They need to mix in rookie Victor Butler some at least. Or go find a veteran that can fill in a little. Spencer's tank empties a lot faster than DeMarcus Ware's.
** So now I know why the defense was so upset with the sideline on the game-winning drive. Before Steve Smith's 12-yard catch, at least three defenders had their palms up, unsure of what the call was. Wade Phillips said he was trying to call a timeout but the officials wouldn't give it to him. Now, from the TV copy of the game, it's hard to see the sidelines but I didn't see anyone running to the officials calling a timeout.
** Breakdown of the Cowboys pass rush:
4-man - 17
5-man - 14
6-man - 7
And by the way on that last drive: the Cowboys used four-man pressure seven times, five-man pressure twice and six-man pressure once. None of it worked.
