If there's one player that I can't wait to see Saturday, it's Tank Johnson. But another guy to watch is fifth-round pick Orlando Scandrick. The talented cornerback from Boise State has quietly made some headway in his battle for a roster spot behind players like Adam Jones, Anthony Henry and Mike Jenkins.
Scandrick clearly wants to show Boise State coach Chris Peterson that he was indeed ready to leave college for the NFL. According to the Idaho Statesman, Peterson said several times last spring that Scandrick would be best served by staying for his senior year.
Well, that didn't go over very well with the 5-10, 192-pounder from Los Alamitos, Calif.
"I've just got something to prove," Scandrick said. "A lot of people wrote me off and didn't think I was prepared. They called me all kinds of different things -- a raw athlete, a developmental project. That kind of stuff touched me. I'm out to prove that I'm not a developmental project. I listen well, don't have bad character and I'm coachable.
"I'm fortunate that Mr. Jones took a chance on me. I'm not going to let him down."
