Opening up the search

We all know Chicago defensive coordinator Ron Rivera has campaigned for the chance to meet with the Cowboys for the vacancy. Our own Hall of Fame writer, Rick Gosselin, would like to see the Cowboys talk with Indianapolis quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell.

Why not wait and interview both guys after Super Bowl XLI?

The only reason I could give is the longer you wait the more assistant coaches will be scooped up by other teams. I'm sure when Jerry and Stephen Jones are interviewing these candidates they are asking what kind of staff they can put together. The rules make it more difficult for assistant coaches to swap spots.

More interviews?
Could Jerry Jones be ready to interview more candidates?

Maybe he tries to speak with Gregg Williams, the assistant head coach/defense for Washington. Williams was a head coach with Buffalo from 2001-03.

How about Jim Mora Jr., who was fired from Atlanta following the 2006 season. He's now the assistant coach/secondary coach with Seattle.

Mike Martz the offensive coordinator with Detroit. His offense would be great. Five wideouts on every play.

Marv Levy the Bills GM. Levy as the head coach with Jason Garrett as the head coach in-waiting.

Charlie Joiner the receivers coach with Kansas City. Why not? He can probably deal with Terrell Owens.

Is Watkins saying he has considered others now? Or is that wishful thinking...

His track record isn't too good today you know... ;)

I just don't get why we wouldn't interview Rivera because he's on a winner and these other guys have been available because--oh yeah they were loosers, what's wrong with getting somebody off a SB team or at least talk to them I mean Singletary great leader and erpson he is was on the staff that was dead last in defense, heck and we got rid of Zimmerman for that??? I still think Jerry will want to at least consider Riv...

I would not be upset if Jerry decided to interview Jim Mora Jr. We could bring his dad in to be our DC.

And, had he been our DC this year when we got run over by NO, he would have said our Defense couldn't do "diddly-poo".
