We mentioned the other day that Orlando Scandrick took home the most performance based pay among the Cowboys through a system that allows lower-paid players that play a lot to earn more money.
Scandrick earned $306,209 and has earned an extra $431,250 in his first two years.
"I still don't quite now how they come up with the number but it's a good thing," Scandrick said. "I'm thankful. It's always good to get extra money, especially when you're drafted lower than other guys."
Don't look for Scandrick to splurge on something big with his newfound money. He knows he might not have a job in 2011 if the league and NFL Players Association don't come to an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement.
Scandrick even knew the 401k plan will be gone and that he would have to use Cobra insurance next year because he will be vested. I wonder if a lot of players are aware of all the implications going forward without a CBA like Scandrick.
"Regardless if I got this check or not over the last two seasons in base salary and signing bonus I was already financially planned for there not being a season in 2011," Scandrick said. "I was aware [the owners] opted out my rookie year."
