Other than dignity, Cowboys didn't pay much for Pacman Jones

The salary Pacman Jones pocketed as a Cowboy, minus his pay for the mid-season suspension, is barely enough to buy a premium PSL at JerryWorld. The Cowboys didn't give up much in the trade to Tennessee, either, basically moving back a round and waiting a year after everything shook out.
They made a small investment and didn't get much production in return. But you can't measure the cost for Pacman by cash and draft picks (or even little glass umbrellas).
The PR hit doesn't faze Jerry Jones. Heck, a part of him was probably tickled that the Cowboys managed to lead SportsCenter during the middle of the playoffs despite not qualifying for the postseason. But it is interesting that Jerry, who held a press conference to downplay the Jivin' at the Joule and kept the spin campaign going on his radio show the next day, has been silent since the Cowboys cut Pacman.
Wade Phillips was the one who was really harmed by Pacman's presence at Valley Ranch. Poor Wade looked like a fool when questioned about Pacman's squabble with a team-appointed bodyguard/babysitter, wondering whether there was an "incident" at all and saying Pacman should be treated like any other Cowboy.
Then, when Sheriff Goodell paroled Pacman again, Jerry pulled the puppet strings to force Phillips to welcome Pacman back with open arms. Pacman proved he was taking his 13th chance seriously by sporting a pair of Homer Simpson pajama pants to practice.
The Pacman era at Valley Ranch proved that Wade Phillips is a head coach who lacks power and the presence to enforce any kind of accountability on his players.
