Tuna, Keyshawn talk Cowboys

Actually, Bill Parcells and Keyshawn Johnson touched on every team in the NFL during their ESPN Radio show last night.

The Tuna was non-committal about the NFC East race, saying it was a three-team fight between the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants. Sounded like he was leaning toward Philly. He called RB Brian Westbrook the MVP of the division and said Donovan McNabb's experience was a significant edge.

Keyshawn picked the Cowboys to win the East, but he didn't sound too sure.

Here's what they said about the Cowboys:

Parcells: "They’re going to be counting on Tony Romo. If he gets it done, I think they’ve got enough around him to do a lot of things offensively. Defensively, I think their Achilles’ heel could be the corner position, age-wise. And also the age of the wide receivers – Keyshawn, don’t get upset now – the age of the wide receivers is a little bit of a factor. And Greg Ellis being out of Dallas and not in the mix right now, his uncertainty I think will hurt them eventually."

Keyshawn: "I like the Dallas Cowboys in this division to win this division, but they have a lot of uncertainty across the board. You lose an offensive-minded coach in Todd Haley. He goes to Arizona. You still have some of the holdovers there, but you also lose your head coach. You bring in a guy like Wade Phillips, who track record-wise hasn’t gotten it done. But they have enough players. Coach Parcells left the cupboard pretty full. They have enough players in Tony Romo and Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn and Jason Witten. If Julius Jones can finally stop pouting and just run the football like his brother and play tough, the running game can be a solid running game."

Daayyyyuuummm....

...almost makes me forget about the "pouting" Keyshawn constantly bombards everyone with.

...oh, and "like his brother"? Since when did Thomas Jones become the embodiment of a running back?

Good, hope it will energize JuJo and show that he ACTUALLY was forced to run like a robot.

Both KJ and Emmitt "called out" jj the first week of preseason in their first Monday Night Countdown show.

Emmitt, btw, did the absolute best job i have heard or read to date detailing what Bill had been trying to get Jones to do to be a down hill runner and not bounce around...of course, I guess it would take an ES to understand that the attempt was not to turn jj into a 'robot'.

JJ's been pretty vocal about what parcells supposedly did to hurt him, and I think a certain amount of his angst comes from MB III being inserted in the redzone to rack up the points. whether the two tailbacks are buddies or not, it has to suck to have that done that consistently.

But it's time for JJ to put up or shut up. if he can't get Tony the play action options a good runner opens up, there are other studs in the stable.

Talk about being on the money and hitting the nail directly on the head, my gawd!

Here's an interesting fact... Julius' sucess all happen when Keyshawn was here. I remember too how Key used to be all up in Julius business trying to keep him fired up, not too mention some of the comments he was quoted as saying to him at the time. I wonder if Key is what was actually lost in Julius' devolopment? At the time I always just thought it was Key being Key and trying to be a good on the field leader, and didn't really see him singling Jones' out- but thinking back, that's exactly what he was doing. Apparently JJ needed it too.

To me, Julius sounds like a run of the mill slacker. Always making excuses. Always happy to see the next authority figure walk out the door. I just wonder what his next excuse will be once this latest one doesn't pan out like he wants it to. Sooner or later he's going to have to stand up to the music. Sooner or later alot of you are going to have to stand up to the music where this guy is concerned. He was a flash...but that short day of sizzle is gone.

Dude! Do you even know who Thomas Jones is? Did you look up that he has been a top 10rb in the nfl the last 3 years when not injured? He's not elite but is a real good back nonetheless.

starfrombirth, there is a difference between "real" good, and good. Thomas Jones has been good/solid for a few years. But he has not been what you call "real" good.

"Real" good would be like having a Brian Westbrook, Larry Johnson, or even a healthy Shaun Alexander. Now that's "real" good.

Brian Westbrook has had 1 REAL GOOD season... he has only surpassed 812 yards rushing 1 time.

There is LT then everyone else.

Larry Johnson would qualify as real good but he has two superb seasons after two nondescript backup[ seasons of bickering with the coaches, and hasn't been in a game yet this seasons after his holdout. His OL is now pretty much decayed.

Thomas Jones is very much in that 2nd tier of backs with Alexander.

When you watch Thomas Jones run he runs with a certainty that Marion Barber displays much moreso than JuJo. Good running backs take yards and Thomas Jones does that. I absolutely understand Keyshawn's comments there.
