From Brandon George:

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said after the game that he might re-evaluate his plan this week to rotate starts at right cornerback for Orlando Scandrick and Mike Jenkins.

Scandrick struggled in pass coverage Sunday night against the Giants. He said he let his team down by tackling poorly and committing mental errors. Jenkins was solid last week in a start in the Cowboys' win over Tampa Bay.

"We are going to look at it and see," Phillips said. "We evaluate every week as to how players are playing, and we didn't cover [Giants receiver Steve Smith] at all the whole game."

Several times, Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman was matched up against Smith. Scandrick had most of his trouble trying to defend Giants speedy receiver Mario Manningham.

Terence Newman knows the deal

When the Giants have two receivers - Mario Manningham and Steve Smith - put up more than 100 yards receiving, you can't say anything good about the coverage. And Terence Newman didn't try to make any excuses.

"We didn't hold up our end," Newman said.

As Orlando Scandrick walked out of the locker room, he had an exasperated look on his face and his hands were clinched on the top of his head. In his first start with the base defense, Scandrick struggled. So did Newman, was beaten deep once and flagged for pass interference another time.

"He didn't play good, I didn't play good," Newman said. "Today. OIt's the second game o fthe season. They beat us. The did some things, but we fought. We fought. We're not bad corners. We didn't play good."

Jenkins might be the best CB on the team right now, as sad as it is to say, because he still has a LOT of work to do.

He is the best CB as of last night. Newman will be okay. Scandrick probably missed 5 tackles last night, including 3 or 4 that would have resulted in losses. He is a very poor tackler.

By the way, I see GN'R finally announced some tour date in Asia in December.

Newman should be demoted to 3rd conerback and let the young guys start and gain experience. Newman is shot.............

Damn, I thought Scandrick's greatest strengths were his TACKLING and HITTING.

Why is it that we can't fix the cornerback problem, yet other teams seem to kick butt with back-ups and guys off the streets?

This is through two coaching staffs :-(

It depends if we lose or win. Same goes for Romo. The pro scouts on this board will tell you so.

That's only when they play us. When they play someone else they don't look so good.

If Jenkins comes out and has another solid performance against Carolina that might just seal that whole rotating thing.

That PI call was horrible as was the Carpenter hold.

No both were good calls.

Newman can’t cover without holding, grabbing, cutting them off, ect, ect.

The only thing Carpenter did was play cheerleader. He should have been up with the Miller Light girls.

Our CBs had good coverage on several plays where Eli just plain threw balls perfectly. Also, our safeties continue to suck in coverage.

:laugh2:

From what I was told, Jenkins is garbage and Scandrick is the second coming.

Hopefully now they are on even ground and people can start giving Jenkins some props now that we found out Orlando is human.

I'm not sure what the rule is but its dumb. What was Newman suppose to do on that underthrown crap? Move out of the way? By the time he turned around the ball was there. Its probably the right call but I think its a BS rule.
