It's easy to focus on the inconvenience of a split training camp. Ask those who are responsible for packing and moving all of the equipment.

But when the Cowboys make it official in the next few weeks that they will split camp between San Antonio and Oxnard, Calif., here are a couple of things to consider on why it makes sense.

Sure, the Cowboys practice indoors in San Antonio. But you've spent time in Texas in the summer. Are you telling me you wouldn't enjoy a couple of weeks of crisp, cool evenings?

The crowds aren't as big toward the end of training camp in San Antonio. Big crowds can translate into more energy in practice. In essence, the Cowboys will be holding two training camps, and that could help keep interest and energy high in both spots.

Owner Jerry Jones is all about energy. That's why he likes this arrangement.

If they think it'll help the players, then make it happen.

We used to do it in high school. Part of summer practice was done off-site, part was done at the school.

Although I live closer to S.A., I'm tempted to setup a quick vacation to Cali when they set the dates. The pics and weather always seem so pretty.

crowds aren't as big at the end? that is one big pile of B.S.

As a san antonio resident, this news bums me out. at least I still have the opportunity to go to training camp in my backyard, which many can't say. so I guess I won't complain too much. but to me, this is not honoring the spirit of the agreement to hold training camp in san antonio, especially when you consider they have already had a split camp once during this agreement.
