that is a very good contract, with the way they laid it out.

20 mill over the first three years looks like the "real" part of the deal. If he continues to play at his present level, he'll get a big bump after year 3.

Total value is 20m. So it's more like 12mil over the first three years.

This looks great for both sides - Ratliff gets his $8M bonus and pretty much guarantees getting $3.8M salaries for the first three years. That's a good haul. And for the team it looks like a 3 year $11.8M contract to me. If he's a star by year three we keep him, if not we let him go. 2011 cap hit to keep: $5.35M 2011 cap hit if we cut him: $3.2M (or 1.6 for 2011 and 2012 if we cut after the deadline)

Just another example of how Jerry has improved at managing the cap. Another great move by Skeletor.

Keep locking them up for great prices Jerry.

This was a good signing ratliff has contribute each year and gotten better each year he gives us flexibility because he can play 2 positions on the dline.

I like Ratliff he is a good player; he is no ware but he produces and gets results and we need guys like that to go with Ware

Ratliff should be thankful Fergy got hurt.

Yes, and in turn, we should be thankful, and it looks as if we were, that Ratliff was there to fill the void.

When is the cut off for CAP dollars to be included in this years contracts?
