Mike Carey will work Sunday's game against the Cowboys and New York Giants. I generally like Carey's crew because he lets the teams play a little more than others.

But Carey's crew worked the Detroit-New Orleans game in Week 1 and called 17 penalties, 15 that were accepted. The Lions were penalized eight times for 80 yards and the Saints were penalized seven times for 36 yards.

Here's the breakdown:

Offside - 1
False start - 4
Ineligible man downfield (punt team) - 1
Unsportsmanlike conduct - 2
Roughing the passer - 1
Personal foul - 4
Holding - 2
Defensive holding - 1

So what to look for? If this game gets chippy between the rivals, the officials will be ready. Four personal fouls and two unsportsmanlike penalties tell you that.

I will never like Mike Carey because of this call:

Defensive pass interference called on the Cowboys vs the Patriots when it was blatantly obvious that Randy Moss was jerking our guy around.

The crew last week wasn't as quick with the defensive offsides as Mike Carey's crew is. Ware and Spenser might not want to do too much guessing this week.

THey didn't however call any of the OTs for illegal formation - not lining up on the LOS, as SO many refs called this past weekend. I think one of the Bill OT got called at least 2x.
