That is great. People here want Barber to go since we draft Jones/Choice. I guess we should release Witten as well since M Bennet is a cowboy now.

If the Barber contract isn't done by week 4 I'll bet we trade him and install Felix as the starter right now.

This was a watershed moment for Barber. Either he wants to be a Cowboy and take a heck of a good deal for being a heck of a running back, or try to get a great deal for being a heck of a RB.

Either way, I think it's resolved by week 4.

Witten's deal is very favourable and he earned his deal with several years of Pro Bowl level pay.

The contract that has reportedly been offered to Barber is more than fair. I think it is probably over-generous for a part-time RB who has all of 3 starts and no 1000-yard seasons and who is a below average threat in the receiving game.

He either buys into the team concept and accepts a reasonable deal or he can hit the road and be a mercenary.

Trade rarely happen during the season. I think if we were going to try and trade him we would have done it before the draft. I think he just plays out the tender and hits FA next year. Jerry has got to learn to say no to some of his guys no matter how much he wants to reward them for good play. There is a whole team to consider which is more important than any individual.

True that trades rarely happen during the season but the trading deadline is at week 6 I think and I think that if Jerry has any idea that MB# isn't going to re sign with us and for what he thinks he's worth he may be dealt and dealt for a first to someone like Miami.

I'd love to take Miami's first next year for Barber but I don't think Parcells will do it. He has a pretty bad roster but Ronnie Brown is a decent RB.

I love me some Barber, but I can't see going any higher than $35 million, give or take a few million.

I agree, $35 mill is as high as I go. I love Barber, but not for $40-$60 million.

I say let Barber play out this year on his tender and let him walk next year. By then Felix and Choice will have a year under their belt and they can be the new tag-team duo for us.
