Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips
Jerry Jones has seen just about enough from everybody's favorite mascot. Rowdy's days of roaring around the practice field on his tricked-out four-wheeler might be numbered.
"I'm about ready to take that key away from Rowdy," Jerry declared to the media horde after this morning's practice.
Rowdy isn't really Jerry Jr., as The Ticket likes to claim, but Jerry does love that big foam goofball like a son. That's why the owner is considering some tough love.
Rowdy perturbed some folks the other day when he parked his four-wheeler in the end zone during practice. A couple Cowboys staffers had to push it off the field to get it out of the WRs' way when they were working on red-zone routes.
Jerry also is concerned that he's seen the official Rowdy truck -- the one with the mascot's picture painted on the side -- parked at the "wrong places" around town. An obvious follow-up question would have been why Jerry saw the truck at those wrong places, but reporters didn't want to stop him while he was rolling.
"You watch where you park that truck!" Jerry recalled telling the dude who has the Rowdy gig.
"I'll talk to Rowdy about that," the dude replied.
"Don't give me that [stuff]!!!" Jerry snapped. "I'm talking to Rowdy!!!"
A pool reporter tried to get Rowdy to comment, but he just shook his big, ol' head when asked a question.
I probably should note that Jerry was smiling and laughing while telling us about the Rowdy issues. I waited this long because I wanted to get your hopes up that Rowdy was really gonna get the heave-ho.
