I have no problem with Roy W saying this or using it as motivation during his career.

I also have no problem with the Cowboys legends saying anything they want about the boys ...... because they earned that right through blood, sweat, career ending injuries, and Superbowl Championships.
Agreed.

"Wade, you fat piece of crap. You couldn't coach your way out of a paper bag."

Now let's sit back and see if it works.

Roy Williams turned an innocuous question about his impressive last week of training camp into a review session of the criticism aimed his way this off-season.

"That's you guys," Williams said. "Once again, I suck as a wide receiver. Any time I catch four or five balls in practice, I took it to another gear. But I'm just the same guy.

"I'm the same sorry wide receiver that Jerry traded for to get out of Detroit. That's me."

Actually, none of the four critics whose comments Williams remembers best were in front of his locker this morning. He specifically mentioned four members of the '90s Cowboys dynasty who now have high-profile media jobs: Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders and Darren Woodson.

In one breath, Williams said he finds the criticism funny and doesn't consider it motivational fodder. Moments later, he said he appreciates the Cowboys' legends ripping him because it keeps his head an appropriate size.

"I appreciate it because if you sit around and have to hear how good you are all the dang time, you have to have that Jerry Rice mindset of, 'I'm not good enough,' all that stuff," Williams said. "When I have guys, especially NFL greats and the greatest that played here in Dallas, saying that I can't get the job done and I'm not a No. 1, it makes me feel good.

"It makes me want to go out there and prove to them and everybody else across the world who listens to those guys - because obviously everybody thinks they know it all - that I can do my job."

===

Is there now any question he's abnormally sensitive?

As much as the criticisms need to stop, he needs to get over it.

Not if that what takes him to another level.

He looks tremendous right now.

He was bullying Flanigan the other night like he was a nobody.

Doesn't matter what he does; get's pissed - smiles - uses it as motivation - talks - doesn't talk -

Some of you will always cry about him. It never changes lol.

I don't know about that, but it was certainly nice to see him step up to the challenge of one of the better, more physical DB's in the league.

Where would the Dallas media be if it wasn't for the existence of he-said, he-said drivel? I swear, two-thirds of their focus is on who said what and what who thinks about who saying what. It's like they never left third grade.

What I've found that the Dallas media does. They logon to CowboysZone, figure out what the consensus is, then go against the grain to generate views of their content from people that are upset about it.

I know it is just pre-season but right now Roy's possesion receiving skills look almost un-stopable and you can tell his routes are a million times more crisp than they ever have been.

He's drawing PI calls and he is eating up stuff underneath.

We have an ultra talented player who finally decided to put in the time to take himself to another level.

Hey man, though I have my doubts, nothing would make me happier than to see Roy Williams take his place as one of the elite WR's in the NFL. He does appear to be a LOT more comfortable thus far compared to last year.

Yep, he believes in himself and what he is capable of.

Well he wanted to come back to Texas. We got him at a high price and he's no living up to the trade. So he really shouldn't complain about the media. Next thing coming is that we wont know what route he's running and he's going to switch back to his college number....oh wait....

So does Witten, and yet he somehow manages to carry himself like a professional. Amazing. If Roy is so psychologically brittle that he needs external factors to motivate himself, then we're really in trouble.
