I think many of them got used to the attention national media paid to their articles during the TO years and have lost sight over what real reporting is. There were few days that I did not hear some local Dallas sportswriter being interviewed by national sports radio stations or quoted in national sports articles.
With the Cowboys focused purely on football and leaving the drama to other teams this season, the local Dallas media has been forced to create controversy to make one last grab at another 15 minutes of national recognition.
The really sad thing is that many of those writers could probably be good writers if they focused on reporting on football rather than out-of-context quotes, sound bytes and gossip.
