A few more visits
The Cowboys met with nearly 30 prospects from around the country over the last few weeks. The doors are now closed until draft day. We had a list of a few of them, and here's a few more:
Southern Cal receiver Dwayne Jarrett, Northern Illinois tackle Doug Free, Tennessee guard Arron Sears.
Jarrett is intriguing. He put up hellacious numbers for the Trojans. He's big, but he's not fast. He catches everything. If not for Mike Williams, whom the Lions took before DeMarcus Ware two years ago, then Jarrett would be viewed better.
Free had the nickname, "Doug Freak," because of his athletic ability. Sears can play either side as a tackle or guard.

A not-so educated guess
Since Dale Hansen, Rock Gosselin and Jerry Jones were nice enough to have me on the Hummer NFL Draft Webcast today, I'll let you in on a secret: I think the Cowboys take Miami safety Brandon Meriweather in the first round.
Here's why: He can play corner, safety, special teams. The last time the Cowboys had one of those guys his name was Darren Woodson. Now Meriweather's character will be an issue after the incident with Florida International and some gun play, but the Cowboys had him in for a visit. Jerry met with him personally and called him a "unique," player.
Of course, it's Monday, so I reserve the right to change my mind by the end of the week.

Moving up? down? all around?
For nearly an hour today Jerry Jones met with the local media to discuss the team's draft plans. Well, not really the plans, unless you count saying the team may trade up, trade down or stay where they are.
Now, the trade up possibility has me intrigued. The Cowboys have not moved up in the first round in a long time. Jerry believes there are eight or so "wow" players, so if one of those, "wow" guys falls to No. 11, the Cowboys will be on the phone trying to get a deal done.
As for trading down, they did it in 2004 and ended up with two No. 1s in 2005, which is a good thing. The Cowboys have 10 picks, so they can be ultra-active if they choose to be. But sometimes sitting still is the best move to make
