Wade Phillips said most of the players who missed the preseason opener will return to practice Monday. He specifically mentioned cornerbacks Terence Newman (groin) and Mike Jenkins (ankle).

Rookie linebackers Brandon Williams (shoulder) and Stephen Hodge (knee) are participating in today's walkthroughs, but they might not do much during tomorrow's practices.

Good news. I'd rather see Jenkins and Newman sit and wait until the third preseason game before playing, though.

I would rather they both sit a little longer, I am gonna be ticked off if they rush them back and they get re-injured.

Absolutely. I hate the fact that your gut feeling during preseason is to want ALL starters and key players out of the game after one series, especially if they looked sharp.

I said in another thread that the preseason is one game too long, and the hall of fame game teams should not play an extra game either

Cowboys aren't worried about cornerback depth

Jerry Jones didn't rush to call any free agent cornerbacks after journeyman quarterback Bruce Gradkowski looked like a Pro Bowler against the Cowboys. He feels just fine about the Cowboys' cornerback depth.

"If we were playing the giants last week," Jerry said, "Jenkins and Newman would have been out there playing."

Terence Newman (groin), Mike Jenkins (ankle) and Orlando Scandrick give the Cowboys a cornerback trio that could be among the NFC's best. It gets awfully thin after that.

Secondary coach Dave Campo said he was pleased with the performances of Scandrick and Alan Ball against the Raiders.

"Now, when you get to the next guys, they have some work to do," Campo said, offering gentle criticism of Courtney Brown and Mike Mickens.

But the Cowboys feel good about their top four cornerbacks, although the fourth guy (Ball) will focus more on free safety.

Does the media expect starter-level talent from our 5th and 6th cornerbacks? Who do they think they are... fans?

I have never told you this, but when you are sarcastic, you are one of the most fun posters to read here. Great one liner man.

You're only as good as your fifth cornerback, you know.
