The six-time Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers are in many ways the NFL's model franchise, with a track record of stability and success that goes back decades. Their do-it-the-right-way approach has been lauded over the last few weeks, and rightfully so.

The Steelers have been portrayed as sort of the anti-Cowboys. But it isn't as if the Steelers haven't had their fair share of off-the-field issues, and those date back decades, too.

The '70s Steelers have been said to be steroids pioneers. Santonio Holmes, the hero of this Super Bowl and a ******** favorite (warning: disturbing photo), has been arrested at least twice (including earlier this season for marijuana possession) and admitted last week that he used to sell drugs.
Side note: You think the Cowboys would rather have Bobby Carpenter or Holmes, who was drafted several picks later?

No, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't perfect. Even the NFL's best franchise has flaws.

The steelers have had 7 player arrests since 06. The MVP of the Super Bowl has been arrested 3 times himself, as recent as this season, as was mentioned above.

Even their mascot "Steely McBeam" was arrested for DUI. :laugh2:

Hines Ward has been mentioned as the dirtiest player in the NFL.

And we all saw Harrison's little "roid rage" in the SB.

Harrison went from being cut 3 times by the steelers to being DPOY ???

Does that sound like steriods to you?

It is all perception though, .. the league loves the steelers and the Rooneys, so all is well in pittsburgh.

You got your heroes and you got your villians. The public loves to paint the Steelers as the heroes and us as the villians. We dont help ourselves much, but all our cracks get enhanced while theirs get thrown under the cover. They've been slurped so much this past week which is fine, but it's hilarious how we've become public enemy #1.

Does CowboysZone.com receive any residuals for material used in blogs? Because a heck of a lot of forum topics gets re-told elsewhere.

Read the Pittsburgh papers when one of their players gets arrested, they report it once, then you never hear about it again, they don't have ESPN or the DMN repeating it over and over.
