The bronze statue of Tom Landry will spend the night at Texas Stadium for the final time tonight.

Per a press release from the Cowboys, the nine-foot, two-inch statue will be removed from its home in front of Gate One in the morning. The statue, which has been in place since 2001, will be placed in storage until JerryWorld is ready for it.

:(

Come on Jerry you can do better than that. At least bring it to VR instead of storage.

Store it in Wade's office.

Stand it right behind his desk so he's looking over Wade's shoulder all the time.

I'd rather have a statue of Jimma, who brought us two Lombardini trophies (he was screwed out of a third Super Bowl) in something like 7 years.

Do, it Jerra. Jimma was the coach stud of the Cowboys.

LOL... might as well put a statue of Jerry in there too. Just be done with all the pretense of him actually being the head coach.

Strange but true factoids. When Vincent Lombardini came from Rumania to the U.S. in the early part of the 20th century, his Ellis Island greeter suggested Lombardini shorten his name to Lombardi. Lombardini resisted, saying "No cambiamento di t il mio nome sono fiero di esso, disadattato!" (even at an early age, he was feisty and hardheaded). So he kept his name, Lombardini. years later, when NFL commish Red Auerbach said that one day the NFL might have a trophy called the Lombardi, old man Vince decided to change his name. But he wanted the name Rozelli, but another young lawyer in the NFL had that name so he shortened it at long last to Lombardo to honor the singing and playing Lombardo brothers from Manitoba. But he was no fool, though he did once live in Green Bay. years later he did change it to Lombardi. I heard this great story from a guy who was drunk and i am resonably sure he was accurate though he passed out before he told me about how Lombardini once fought 12 men in a cage-fight.

Better yet take it to camp cupcake and then to Valley Ranch to the practice facility.

...and then place it on the sidelines of the new Stadium, maybe we can fool the players into believing that we have a REAL Head Coach

Duane Thomas probably wouldn't have noticed a difference between the statue and the real Tom Landry.

Of course, after a while, you couldn't tell the difference between Thomas and a statue either.
