...and then place it on the sidelines of the new Stadium, maybe we can fool the players into believing that we have a REAL Head Coach

I'd rather have a statue of Jimma, who brought us two Lombardini trophies (he was screwed out of a third Super Bowl) in something like 7 years.

Do, it Jerra. Jimma was the coach stud of the Cowboys.

Treason!!!

Strange but true factoids. When Vincent Lombardini came from Rumania to the U.S. in the early part of the 20th century, his Ellis Island greeter suggested Lombardini shorten his name to Lombardi. Lombardini resisted, saying "No cambiamento di t il mio nome sono fiero di esso, disadattato!" (even at an early age, he was feisty and hardheaded). So he kept his name, Lombardini. years later, when NFL commish Red Auerbach said that one day the NFL might have a trophy called the Lombardi, old man Vince decided to change his name. But he wanted the name Rozelli, but another young lawyer in the NFL had that name so he shortened it at long last to Lombardo to honor the singing and playing Lombardo brothers from Manitoba. But he was no fool, though he did once live in Green Bay. years later he did change it to Lombardi. I heard this great story from a guy who was drunk and i am resonably sure he was accurate though he passed out before he told me about how Lombardini once fought 12 men in a cage-fight.

wow, that was friggin awesome!

would have loved to have heard that story live

The bronze statue of legendary Cowboys head coach Tom Landry, which has welcomed Cowboys fans to Texas Stadium since 2001, was removed from its original home in front of gate one this morning. The statue, commissioned by the Jones Family to honor the iconic head coach, will be placed in storage until its new home at the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington is complete.

The statue is the work of Texas artist Robert Summers and is a nine-foot, two-inch full-bodied likeness of the coach standing in a classic Landry sideline pose.

Tom Landry exits Texas Stadium

Associated Press photo

Tom Landry has left the building, Texas Stadium.

This is from DallasCowboys.com:
Workers on Friday carefully detached the nine-foot statue and placed it into a large wooden crate for storage. Eventually it will move up Interstate 30 to the Cowboys' new $1.1 billion stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The organization has not yet determined where Landry's bust will stand at the new stadium, but Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said it will have "as much accessibility to the fans 365 days a year, just as it was here at Texas Stadium." "Tom Landry is an icon, and they make statues for icons," Dalrymple said. "His statue here has been one of the more significant and attractive fan attractions here. On game days, people are lined up two or three hours prior to the game to get their picture made by this statue. And we want it to be a significant attraction at the new stadium as well."
