Barry Horn/Reporter E-mail News tips
I had the opportunity to speak with Tony Dungy earlier this afternoon. The primary reason was to chat with him about working in the NBC NFL Sunday Night studio. I'll have that report later in the week. Cowboys-Eagles will be a Sunday night affair.
But in the interest of blogdom, I asked about Eagles 44, Cowboys 6 last season. He said he really doesn't know much about the game and has yet to sit down to watch a tape.
Sight unseen, however, he said: "I'm surprised a rivalry game like that went in that direction. You would expect when these teams play it would be a three-point or seven-point game."
So I asked his thoughts about the coach of the team that scored the 6.
"I like Wade Phillips as a coach," Dungy said. "I think he is what the Cowboys needed. He's like I was to a certain extent. People look at the way you do things. When you win, they like have a relaxed, players' coach. When you lose, the complain you are not disciplined enough...
"That's the way it is in this society, especially in Dallas where if you don't win the Super Bowl you can't be successful."
