Reliving a nightmare

Is it easy for the Cowboys to rehash their 21-17 playoff defeat to the Giants? Nope. But it can be beneficial.

Tony Romo prefers to look at the tape from an analytical perspective, studying it as he would any other game and looking for ways to improve on the way he played. The hope is he finds tweaks he can make in there. And avoid agonizing.

"You always think about that stuff," Romo told us yesterday. "You watch it to get better. But you don't think about (the pain) at this point, where you scrutinize it more than you did at the time."

Patrick Crayton took a lot of heat for a critical third-quarter drop in the game, a potential catch which would've converted a third down and, quite possibly, set up a touchdown that would've made all the difference. He hasn't forgotten it. Nor is he trying to.

Asked if he still thinks about it, he said, "Probably about twice a week, out at the complex. You know, we throw twice a week. Every time we do that, it pops in my head."

This is not neccesarily good. Hopefully it motivates him but it could also create flashbacks and kill his confidence.

I'm hoping it's a humbling, motivating, learning experience for him.

I can forgive the drop, but I can't forgive his giving up on that route in the end zone. Romo laid the ball perfectly where he should have been. Crayton will have to do some spectacular things to make me get over that one.

If it helps eliminate his trash talking to the media, then I'm all for it.

They talked about that he changed his route and he was not sure if Romo read the same thing he hesitated so did he give up or was it something else ?

I had the same thought and emotion.

In Crayton's defense, (as hard as it is for me to do it), he did discuss that play and say that he didn't give up on the route because he didn't think the ball was coming his way, but he got such a quick release that he wasn't sure if Romo saw it and he hesitated to see if he and Romo were on the same page. It was something like that, I may have the details a little off, but he had an explanation.

I don't think about it unless we talk Superbowl, or Playoffs.

I can't even play Madden without thinking about it.. I just stick to COD4, and GTA4.

Hesitating on a route, is still imo: giving up on the route. If he runs it as he is suppose to and how Romo expected it would have been a td.

Unless he dropped it... which would have been ok ;)

I agree. Anyone can drop an occasional pass (Drew Pearson did) but to give up on a route is nearly unforgivable. He will have to come back this year with a new attitude to make up for that one.

Big thinks about it more than Crayton does, that has to burn him up.

No, dropping a second critical pass would have been a death sentence for him. :shoot3: :shoot2: :shoot1: :shoot4: :chainsaw: :chop: :whip: :yousuck:

I took it as he's only catching balls twice a week. Didn't think about thinking about the drop twice a week. Once he gets into a game he will probably not be thinking about it that way. Hopefully, he will remember to run all his routes as if the ball were coming to him and he will score.

And I would personally like for him to catch balls everyday.

I wonder if thinks about quicking on that route at the end of the game.

THAT bothered me a lot more than the dropped pass. I can accept a guy dropping a pass that hardly ever does so, but quitting on a route is inexcusable!
