I just got off the phone with Tony Romo, who is in New York for a function involving the Starlight Foundation at new Yankee Stadium.

Romo is taking a 10-year-old boy, Ben, who has leukemia, to batting practice to fulfill his wish of meeting the Cowboys quarterback as well as some Yankees. Romo joked he would have a football with him to play catch with Ben, but not a baseball.

"Most of the time I think I'm unimportant in a lot of ways so when you feel like you can influence someone and allow them to be happier, that really hits home," said Romo, who is in the process of setting up his foundation. "I think that's one area that many of us, myself included, who are in a position in the public eye need to help out more."

Wednesday morning Romo will golf with Tiger Woods at Earl Woods Pro-Am prior to the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. Woods serves as the tournament's host.
Romo said he will use the time to talk to Woods about more than just a golf swing.

"I love talking to individuals who have success in their field," Romo said. "Obviously he's done that so it'll be a very enjoyable experience for me to figure out the way he thinks and some of the things he focuses on to improve as a player and continue to grow and get better.

"I've always felt golf for me allows me to work on the mental side, being in a competitive situation. People are kidding themselves if they don't think you can improve in football if you play other sports. You put yourself in a competitive environment where you're not sure you'll have success or fail, the more times you do that it's a benefit. The more times you trust your instincts or trust your preparation it can only help."

We'll have more on Romo's association with Starter in a bit.

ya right, only good thing about tony's golf game is when he is leaving the course to work on football related stuff.

if he even thinks about golf, someone should hit him in the face with a football

if jessica even thinks about getting some "quality" time with him, Tony should belt her in the face with a football.

If he has to go the bathroom it can only be number 2 and it better be shaped like a football.

If he cuts his finger making dinner he better cut it into the shape of a football.

If his dog gets cancer the tumor better be shaped like a football.

I am so sick of this kid and his screwed up priorities.

you don't hear this crap about David Buehler!

So when you get home after a tough day at Burger King do you spend all evening practicing your burger flipping method?

You guys kill me with this Romo needs to only focus on football attitude. Nobody only focuses on one aspect of their lives. He puts in a ton of time honing his craft and to ask for him to give up his personal life or his hobbies is ridiculous in the extreme.

For someone who has supposedly "gone Hollywood" you don't see him in the limelight all that often. Good grief let the kid live his life. Football is obviously a priority for him, there is nothing wrong with him having a personal life as well.

We shall find out this season. I'm very much looking forward to the blurriness of it all becoming crystal clear no matter which direction he ventures into...

Where's that Willie graphic??? ;)

Nah no bitterness here. I'm beyond ready to move on from all of that. I just want to know what we really have for 67 mil. To me there are still some questions to be answered and this season will answer them all.

I'm a bitter Boys fan that's looking at year #13 of coming up much shorter than ever imagined. I hold them to a higher standard. All of them.. That includes the leader who goes by the name of Tony Romo. I've seen the franchise on the mountain top many times and want to see them there again while I still have 20/20 vision. Take it as you will. Just don't let it cloud your rose colored shades.

Anyone who thinks Romo playing other sports is a bad thing due to a risk of injury, read that quote long and hard.

Hate is a strong word Bob. I would say that I have a strong desire to see him make the picture crystal clear.

It means exactly what I said. I want to know what we have in our 67 million dollar quarterback of the future. I would prefer to see progression and not another December collapse followed by a ho hum attitude.

it means he still doesn't know, and he thinks tony may very well tank and he just want to stop wondering.

which is kinda silly, imo
