Assistant head coach Tony Sparano's weekend included three interviews with Atlanta, Miami and Baltimore, but no job offer was made - or accepted - which the New Haven Register reported Saturday night.
“The truth is I had three real nice interviews and I enjoyed meeting with all of the people involved,” Sparano said. “I learned a lot in the interview process, but no job offer was made. Absolutely no job offer was made. For me, all I’m worried about now is the New York Giants, so that’s what I’m doing.”
The Dolphins have interviews scheduled for Monday and Tuesday with prospective coaches. They would have been in violation of the Rooney Rule had they offered the job to Sparano, who was the first to interview after Cam Cameraon's dismissal. According to the rule teams must interview a minority candidate before hiring a coach.
