Wade Phillips blowing his top at Courtney Brown after a bonehead pass interference penalty made for riveting television, simply because it's rare to see the self-described players' coach get so angry.

At least it's rare for the public to see. A couple of prominent members of the organization insist that Phillips gets that fired up fairly often.

"Hey, I've seen him light up a lot," Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. "That just might have been something notable for our fans, and that's great. It should be. But it's a mistake to think Wade is even-keeled or even temperament. He'll get with it and does get with it. He doesn't tolerate just basic plays where our players are not thinking."

Since it was a radio interview, we don't know whether Jerry kept a straight face.

Bradie James didn't deny chuckling when he saw Phillips berate Brown. But James was completely serious when he said that it wasn't out of Phillips' character to come down hard on a player.

"You know, Wade really gets into the game, to be honest with you," James said. "You've got to watch him. He's real animated when something doesn't go right. Just watching him, I wasn't shocked or surprised at all."

Tim, please quit your day job. I heard they're hiring at TMZ.

it rings too hollow for me when people are jumping out, "oh yeah, I mean, he's not all marshmellows and sprinkles"

In all seriousness I am not surprised. Most defensive coaches are crazier then a son of a gun but some just express it more externally. However, the ones that express it internally are the ones that you should worry about.

I loved it when Wade went ballistic on Brown, I thought he was going to walk on the field and kick his ace, not just yell at him.

And James should have been just as pissed at Brown, that was one dumb-arsed play on Brown's part.

too little, too late.

So when does an old man suddenly change overnight?

In Wade's case it is probably just for show.
He's still a marshmallow inside and the players know it.

Um, Jerra, could we hire Jimma to come in and give pre-game talks? Light a little fire under these players? Evera game, Jerra and Jimma. Wade is not up to it. Never has been.
