Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said that starting center Andre Gurode (sprained right knee) went through a limited practice Thursday.
Phillips said backup RB Felix Jones (left knee), WR Roy Williams (three injured ribs) and safety Gerald Sensabaugh (broken right thumb) did not practice.
He said he's not sure if Williams will be able to play against Kansas City on Sunday.
"If guys don't practice, it lessens the chance they're going to play," Phillips said. "If he's healthy enough to play, he'll play."
Phillips said Williams doesn't necessarily have to practice to play.
Phillips said it doesn't look like Sensabaugh will be back this week after having surgery to repair his right thumb on Monday.
"I don't think they (doctors/trainers) will let him play," Phillips said, adding that he's in a cast now and will have to wear protective equipment when he returns to the field.
Phillips said that starting RB Marion Barber looks better this week than he did at this time last week going into the Denver game in which he had his injured quad tighten up on him in the second half and limit him to one carry after halftime.
"Marion's practiced and seems to be better and better," Phillips said. "I don't know if he's 100 percent ..."
Phillips said Mike Jenkins will continue to start at cornerback. Phillips said that Orlando Scandrick could possibly return kickoffs if regular kick returner -- and No. 3 WR Miles Austin -- has to start and play more if Roy Williams can't go against the Chiefs. Phillips said Austin still may return kicks even if he plays more against the Chiefs.
