With the NFC trailing by a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Wade Phillips said he and Jason Garrett had a two-point play ready to go for the win instead of forcing overtime.

“We hoped we would,” Phillips said, “but we didn’t.”

Tony Romo’s pass to DeSean Jackson was picked off by Pittsburgh’s James Harrison. Romo led the NFC on a scoring drive in his first action of the game, completing all seven passes. He nearly had a touchdown on the second drive to Jason Witten, but the six-time Pro Bowler couldn’t hold on to it.

“It was right there and especially because Tony threw it,” said Witten, who missed out on a chance for his first Pro Bowl touchdown. “You never want to have that as a tight end.”

Romo said he noticed a difference in the AFC’s intensity. The $45,000 check for each player on the winning team might have had something to do with that.

“I think Ray Lewis got them to pick it up,” Romo said.

Wow, Wade was gonna go for two, roll the dice to win the game in the pro-bowl. :laugh2:

Maybe next time in the playoffs he will go for fourth and one instead of kicking a long field goal with a crappy kicker. :banghead:

I had a feeling that had the NFC made the TD that they would go for the 2 instead of risking OT. The game was all in fun and I doubt anyone on the field wanted to go OT

Exactly. Any coach would go for two just to get the thing over with one way or another.

You see the same thing at the HOF game as well as most pre-season games.

I could not believe that Witten dropped that pass. He usually has very reliable hands and is good in the clutch but he sure choked last night.

I'm ready to see Wade take his place as the next Texas born HC of the Dallas Cowboys to win a SB. Tom Landry (Mission Texas) Jimmy Johnson (Port Arthur Texas) Wade Phillips (Orange, Texas) Only fitting that HC from the state of Texas lead Texas team to the Championship. :D

so does choko romo

Every now and then a nickname comes around that's so simple and so smart and so insightful that it just *has* to stick. 'Choko Romo' might just be one of those nicknames.

We may just have witnessed the offseason equivalent of the Believe Movement, people. Who's with me?

Ah. In that case, I'm going to go with 'Phoney Slo-Mo', then. 'Boney Homo' I would also consider.
