Wade Phillips said earlier in the week that the Cowboys haven't looked good in man-to-man and indicated he might alter the scheme.
After Wednesday's press conference on the walk back to his office, Phillips was asked if he still has confidence in his cornerbacks.
"Yeah,'' Phillips said. "We've got two real young ones. You don't see the things they do well and you don't want to talk about those because we lost.''
Not true. What did Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick do well against the Giants?
"Techinique-wise they did some things we asked them to do,'' Phillips said. "It wasn't every play that they got beat. A lot of plays they took away what we wanted to take away.
"I see some talent there. We've got to reign it in.''
And what about veteran Terence Newman, who got beat on several deep plays?
"He's a competitor like the rest of our team,'' Phillips said. "His attitude was great today. He's challenged like everyone else is.''

With a Monday game, the Cowboys do not have to file a practice participation report with the NFL, so Wade Phillips would not say whether Marion Barber practiced or how the running back looked.
"We don't want to comment on injuries today in case somebody in another city would find out," said Phillips.
Barber was in shoulder pads during the portion of practice that is open to the media and did not appear to be favoring his left leg in the brief time we saw him move around.
Barber said earlier today he wants to play, but he was vague in his comments. The extra day of preparation should help his quadriceps strain, but Phillips is glad to have Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.
"You don't want anybody banged up but it's a strong area for us," Phillips said. "Certainly at running back, Tashard having played last year and Felix havong played some last year and both of those guys have been playing in the first two games. You've got to feel good about the strength at that position."
Wade Phillips likes what he saw from team, Tony Romo

While Wade Phillips wasn't forthcoming much on Marion Barber's health, he believes the team's mental health was good in the first day back to practice since Sunday's loss to the Giants.
So what does that mean, actually?
"It's a feel," Phillips said. "That's what you do coaching-wise. You get a feel for things practice-wise as to how quickly they're moving around, how focused they are. There are a lot of different indicators as far as some of it, just the enthusiasm. Some of them are bouncing around good. You look at the techniques and the details, the defense is going after the football today, those kinds of things.
Phillips said Tony Romo had a good day as well after his three-pick effort against New York.
"Every player made mistakes in the game," Phillips said. "When he makes one, everyone sees it. And they are important to him. It is important to him. That's the key thing. It's very important to him, and he's going to try to do something about it."
