By NFL rule, contact is not allowed at OTA workouts. In reality, there's some contact but no hitting.

Either way, it's really difficult to evaluate anything the linemen are doing. But that doesn't mean the big guys are wasting their time.

The meetings and mental aspect of practice reps have value to every player (except maybe punter Mat McBriar). OG Leonard "Bigg" Davis said linemen should also work on honing technique -- "foot placement, hand placement and hat placement" -- during the practices.

But Bigg acknowledged that the big boys' blood doesn't get pumping during the "voluntary" workouts: "It's hard to be competitive if you can't give it your all."

It's also got to help their conditioning in general. It's not cool and breezy out there.

It is good to work out and be around teammates. It builds or strengthens chemistry.
