What should be the official name for JerryWorld?

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

Barring an 11th-hour miracle, the Cowboys aren't going to sell naming rights for the new stadium before it opens. Stephen Jones said they've settled on a non-corporate name, but they're not ready to announce it yet.

Right now, the working name is Dallas Cowboys New Stadium, which didn't exactly catch the KRLD listeners' fancy. Here's the results from a KRLD poll this morning:

Tom Landry Stadium ... 52%

Cowboys Stadium at Arlington ... 25%

Other ... 19%

America's Stadium ... 4%

Dallas Cowboys New Stadium ... ZERO %

Tom Landry Field at America's Team Park.

ATP will be replaced by the name of some mega-corp in a year or so.

I'm getting a little tired of the whole Jerry World crap! It just has such a negative connotation to it.

Like to know who the bitter, sub-moronic ****** was who first coined it.

It's a dig at Jones and for no good reason. OK, he wants the Cowboys to play in the worlds best stadium. How dare he! Who the hell does he think he is anyway.

I just don't get the bitterness. At least not on this topic. How is this a bad thing for the Cowboys or North Texas?

He's sunk so much of his own money into the darn thing. It really means something to him. To help improve the Cowboy's image, it's brand. And it's not just about a return on the investment. Because there's much better things he could do with his money to earn a return.

Anyone want to offer some thoughts on this?

BTW - I'll take for a name in order, any of the following.

America's Stadium
America's Team Stadium
North Texas Stadium
Cowboy's Stadium

Agree.
Name me another owner who has ponied up as much jack as Jones has for this new stadium??? You can't because there hasn't been. Jerry hasn't paid for the whole stadium himself but he has paid the most out of his own pocket, more than any other owner(750 million) to get the stadium he feels is the best bang for the spectator.
Jerry is out front...he is accessable...and the media blasts him for it all the time. A guy like Jim Reeves who writes for the Fort-Worth Star Telegram is just an example of people in the media who have a pre-concieved notion of Jerry Jones and what he wants and what he is trying to do with this new stadium. People like that have thier mind made up and nothing Jerry does will change thier opinion of him. And it comes across in the articles that people like this write.

Hopefully it will be a respectable business, unlike the building down the street that took a sponsorship with ameriquest for a couple years, or enron field in houston.

Given the location, it should be the chips n salsa bowl.

I have just one. I am not alone. It reeks of jealousy and petty nonsense. I try not to comment on it.

I really like the Tom Landry choice.

I would bet that there is NO CHANCE that Tom Landry is any part of the name of that staidum.

I love Jerry as the owner, but he will never do that...it's not his nature, it's not his thing, he just won't do that. Too much ego on his part...

I bet Arlington gets its name in what ever the new stadium name is.
I would really like to see Landry's name also used.
Landry Field in Arlington.

It should be called either..."Cowboys Stadium"..."America's Stadium" or my favorite..."Star Stadium" in Arlington, TX.

You aren't allowed in this media town without a smarmy, dumbed-down smart*** schtick. MacMahon is just keeping up the tradition.

Unless there's an agreement that they can't do it.

or how about Texas Stadium

I wouldn't go that far about Jones, because the Cowboys did manage to win 3SB's without Landry. Also, Landry couldn't win it all before Staubach came or after he retired in 1979. Even though, there was plenty of talent on the team in the late 60's and early 80's. I think his bronze statue at the stadium entrance is a fitting tribute IMO.

This is true. Surely not a popular view around here, but an accurate one.
