Don't like the fact of spending a 1st on a 1 tech or a rotational 3 tech. We have a starter at the 3. I would rather get a player there that will have more of an impact

The second 3tech will be near starter reps. They want two 3tech types in the Nickel which is about 50% of the snaps.

Ideally they would like to have most of the snaps to go to a 3 man rotation with one 1tech and two 3techs in that rotation. The 4th DT is likely to be more of a backup that only gets a handful of snaps.

But that's not true. Melton didn't get near the snaps as Crawford. They want a rotation but the #2 doesn't get near as many

I agree with Walker, Melton fell into the doghouse near the end of the season, not sure why but he clearly was on his way out. I am fine with Goldman and Bennett as a pick, although with Murray heading to the eagles. Amazing how the fans are letting Stephen Jones off the hook, a signing back in 2014 for both Dez and Demarco would of really helped.

That was specific to Melton. He said himself that he needed limited snaps.

They thought Melton slacked on run defense and playing within the scheme in an effort to get more sacks to reach incentives.

Ok so to my point drafting a player 1st round to just play limited snaps is stupid.

My point is that if Marinelli had the ideal players in an 80 snap game:
3tech-1, 60 snaps, 75%
3tech-2, 60 snaps, 75%
1tech, 40 snaps, 50%

Some of those would be reduced to get the 4th guy about 20 snaps.

Yeah the 3tech 2 would be limited.

Anyways dallas said they will not take a 1 in the 1st so take Goldman and a few others out.

Bennett at 27 is a disappointment. There are alot better players

No way to Bennett at 27...yes please at 60. Not sure how realistic it is to get him in the 2nd, but I definitely wouldn't take him in the 1st.

I see Garrett and Wright in the 3rd as our best value bets for DT in this draft. Both play with power and quickness and could fit at either the 1 or the 3 depending on the situation

Goldman is a manchild, one of those rare 1-techs that can dominate the point of attack and also athletic enough to makes plays behind the LOS. Only 20 years old as well, big upside.

May not make it to us though...

If (I know big if) half of the injured, redshirted and such players make it back, where would that put our greatest need. Would that change who you would you pick here . Just a question because I was thinging we had several strong possibilities on ir .

DT is oddly the deepest position on defense for the Cowboys, IMO.
They have possibly the best player on defense Crawford as the top 3tech. They have solid veterans with T. McClain and Brent. Then they have a big group of young players with possible high upsides Bishop, Whaley, Coleman, Jack Crawford and even Okoye who is only 27.
