Still hoping Carter breaks out this season. If he does, it eliminates a need or two next draft. If Ro McClain knocks the rust off and plays well it would allow General Lee to man the Will spot next season. I think he would be fantastic at the Will spot! Fingers crossed that these guys play well this season along with Mo and Carr. DL and possibly RB would then be the primary focus next April or May.

Hope you're wrong about Lee being done and 54 and 55 being stop gaps. That will make the defensive rebuild that much tougher because more will be needed in free agency and the draft.

I know there's a rush to proclaim him done because he's a Cowboy and he's a good player, but he's not done. Nothing he's gone through is in any way career threatening.

I'm hopeful that Lee can stay healthy next year. For some reason I feel slightly better knowing that this latest injury was probably due to a partially torn ACL that he had in college to the same knee. It seems that it was almost destined to fail at some point because it was not surgically repaired the 1st time.

Having said that, the Cowboys absolutely must plan as if he won't stay healthy. They have to access the team in the off-season as if he is not an option. If Durant and McClain play well, then it might not be a big need, but with Carter possibly leaving in free agency, they need to be certain to have more options at WLB than just Durant and Lee. Maybe Hitchens is the guy, but the only way we'll know that is if something happens to Durant or McClain.

The good thing is that 4-3 LBs are often reasonably priced in free agency compared to many other positions.
