I think thats what we up the offer to. Not sure if someone outbids though.

If the offer is made and accepted before the start of FA then Dallas will not have to deal with teams outbidding. All the contracts the Cowboys need to do will likely come at a better price than waiting until March 10 when players can get teams bidding for their service

We're going to trot out this year's defense again and get steam-rolled, I guess. Nothing to spend money on.

I would hope they build on defense much as they have on offense. I see no big money FA we signed from other teams to build this offense, Dallas has used the mid level FA and our own picks to build this offense. Defense there are some good players on that unit, while more is needed we go into a draft that is rich in DL.

I went to Over The Cap to see just what the cap situation would look like if they were to sign both 29 and 88 to long-term deals. First, I restructured Tyron's deal, and that gives Dallas an additional $8.2M of cap room. Next, I do NOT pick up Melton's option. That gives them another $8.5M. Just those 2 moves (and the carryover funds from this year) gives Dallas $24.2M in cap room. Next, I sign Demarco to the deal suggested by Sturm - 4/$24 with $18M guaranteed. I give him a $10M SB and guaranteed salaries his 1st 3 years of the deal. This drops the cap to $19.7M (Murray's 1st year cap hit is $4.5M). Next, I sign Dez to a 6/$90M deal with $30M guaranteed. He gets a $15M SB and his cap hit in year 1 is $6M. That leaves slightly over $14M to deal with other FA targets. And, this doesn't account what they decide to do with Brandon Carr.

And you didn't touch Romo's contract at all. It can be done. Just depends on what the Cowboys WANT to do.

I'm more concerned that Pollack will be able to continue the coaching of the OL and running schemes of Callahan than the loss of Murray. If he can, I think losing Murray is not that big of a deal.

18 million guaranteed for Murray is ridiculous, the max he should be guaranteed is 12-13 million. The RB market has changed and nobody is going to offer him that kind of money.

He worked very closely with the players on the OL and they seem to think it will help in the continuity

"I think it makes [the transition] pretty seamless, probably as seamless as it can get," Frederick said. "You're moving Frank from the assistant role, but he was very involved throughout the year. Obviously, Bill was on top but those guys worked very well together and everything they did was together with us. I don't see a huge transition this year at all."
