The "Bease" is one grounded and well-rounded fella. Just the sort that anyone would love to spend time with.

I'm glad we kept him over Danny Coale. Wasted a 5th round pick on Coale and Cole was free to us. I'm very proud of the home town guy.

Works out that way a lot in the NFL. Some guys get better after college some don't.

At least we hit on some darn good UDFAs - Romo, Austin, Beas, Leary, etc.

You really can't look at it that way. I think Danny Coale if healthy could have been a significant contributor on this team. In a battle of experience against time with limited roster spots, I think he found himself under the gun from the get go after an early ACL injury. Now rather than learning and getting better, you're forced to focus on rehab, and hoping to get back to the same spot physically that you were when you were drafted, where other players are now getting better and are in generally better physical shape than they were drafted.

He came back after the ACL but still wasn't ready physically and had set backs with the knee.

After being cut, he had to go to Indianapolis and learn an entirely new system and basically start from scratch. This is how you become a JAG. He didn't make the Colts roster, but was picked up by the Steelers before hurting his finger. I think he is still with the Steelers.

What was one thing your dad said over and over while coaching that wore you out?

Beasley: He’s good on going off the head about stuff. He’s never very repetitive. [Jason] Garrett’s big on that. He repeats a lot of things because he wants to drill it inside your head, but my dad wasn’t like that.
Repeating oneself is a process of stacking good cliches on top of good cliches.

Beasley is an odd duck. I don't think football is that big of a deal to him. Winning a Super Bowl would mean less to him than most.

That said, he likes to play football, but he doesn't get butterflies over it. Doesn't take losses hard or spend time obsessing about it. He plays calmer as a result.

That's just my observation from afar.

It certainly seems that way.

He's definitely different than your typical NFL wide receiver. But it seems to work for him. I like the guy, definitely a fan.

Having played with him in high school as his LT and for his dad (our HC), I can promise you he is as competitive as anyone.

In small town Texas football, competition is drilled into your head throughout every drill, every practice, every film meeting, and every game.

Beasley loves football, I promise you that. He's grown up in football. He's got a very laid back personality but deep down, he's got some unreal drive.

“Really it’s all about seizing the opportunity,” Beasley said. “If you get a chance you’ve got to take advantage of it. My rookie year I was inactive for a lot of games and when I was active I’d get about four plays a game. I’d get a ball (thrown my way) and if I didn’t take advantage of that I’d probably be cut right now.”

Beasley words are so true, when you are a longshot UDFA or late draft pick your margin for error is so small and your opportunities are few. Top draft picks will get ample opportunity and will be given some slack but these guys like Beasley there is no slack given you have to go out and really do the most with few chances to have any chance.

Took some of the sting out of that one.
